Skiffin16 ~ Presence or Lack Of...
Hi all, just wanted to let you know that I'm alive and OK...
It's just been a rough week or two personally...
My sister Colleen that many of you have known has her own battles going on with cancer..., isn't doing so well. She went to a hospice a few days ago, last Dx with more than likely having only a few months left.
But that looks like it might be only days at this point. She's starting to have some mental laps and dillusions at times.
Please keep her and family in thought and prayer please...
She is my half sister, one of four that we only reunited through FaceBook the year after I was Dx. We met in 2010, her and her sisters had been looking for me for about the last twenty years.
They living in Ohio, me in Floirda, we haven't had the opportunity for much personal contact, but we all have a great relationship.
Not only that, but my mother has just been Dx with early stage Parkinson's. So I have also been dealing with that situation locally as well.
Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers as well.
I have been reading most of your postings, and replied to a few, but haven't been too motivated to reply to as many as would normally (abi-normally for me)... But on a positive note, the many that I have supported over the years have stepped up and are doing an awesome job of carrying forward the part of paying it forward.
I love you all, and am very proud of all of you, and thankful for all of you for being here, helping others and myself when needed.
I'm not signing off or anything, and intend to be as active as ever....for some that might not be a good thing, LOL...get over it... I don't plan on going anywhere for awhile.
For the rest of you... bawahahaha...
Best ~ John

I sure noticed your absence and
wondered if you'd gone on a long fishing trip. But then saw on FB about your sister. I'm sorry to hear that she has gone into hospice, but think how wonderful it is that you were able to connect and have some time getting to know one another. Also sorry to hear about your mom....
We'll keep the home fires burning for when you get back....

informative
John,
Both happy and sad about your sister(s) and your Mom. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I am always afraid to write about my non-cancer personal life, but I have traveled (and I am traveling) your road and it is heart wrenching.
Now, about H&N Central, maybe when one of us is gone we could put a stamp across our avatar which says something like, “out to lunch”, “back later”, “on vacation”, “need a break”, just a thought.
In the words of Sir Skiffin “Have an Abi-Normal Day”.

Trouble, like grapes.............
My thoughts are with you and your family as you face these terrible circumstances. I also have a half-sister that I didn't know existed until I was about thirty and to this day, have never met. My heart breaks for you as you deal with your Mother's situation. Been there, done that. It is hard to watch your parent deteriorate.
We are here for you. Heaven knows, you have certainly been here for us.
Luv,
Wolfen

family
John, Your sister and mother need you right now and your forum family will try to tend to what is needed until you return. Just know that you are not replaceable. You have planted the roots for an abi-normal family tree that has flourished in here. Without you, it would not grow as well and the fruit it bears would not be as abi-normally-interesting. So, of course you are missed when you are not able to post as often as usual. You are being held closely in thoughts and if anyone wants to know where to find you, the first place to look is in Phrannie's pocket ... she probably keeps a collection of your abi-normalisms in there. I have a fishing buddy who uses some of what she catches to fertilize her garden which reminds me of how your fish tales nurture the discussions in here with hope for post tx happy activities. Sending heartfelt sympathy as you focus your nurturing strength on your sister and mother.

I missed you
and was wondering , I knew something had to be going on or you would have been on here helping others like you always do every day. I am so sorry to hear about your Mom and your Sister . Thanks for taking the time to post and let us know what is going on . My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family . I am hoping that the Docters can slow down your mom's Parkinson's since it was caught early .
