Hi! I just joined this board and am thrilled to have found it. I've had peritoniel cancer for just a little over a year and it's still a little frightening to me, but have already found reassurance here. THANKS for your many, many posts.

Hi
Hi I am glad that you have found reassurance from this site. I lost my wife back in November 2012 from pertioneal cancer. She was stage 4. The chemo worked for the Summer bringing her CA-125 down to very low levels. However by October the cancer returned full blast. Why they stopped the chemo I do not yet know. Even though her levels were low she had a small tumor on her liver, then after two months of not being on the chemo her liver was covered in tumors. Make sure you ask your doctor if a maintance plan is better for this type of cancer. I still have to talk to the doctor and see why they did not have her on a maintance plan since she was stage 4. I am glad you are fighting and keeping a positive attitude. My wife was the same way. You have made it much farther in your fight than my wife. Keep reading about it and constantly talk to your doctor. I wish you the best of luck.

ace3434, Thanks for the advice about a maintance plan. I had 6 chemo rounds last fall, a debulking surgery, a drug trial this spring (which was short-lived; didn't work at all) and have currently completed 1 round of 6 chemo treatments.
I welcome all advice from peeps here!

I am a Lin from Ohio also. I live near Cleveland. Dx in 2010 with PPC stage 3c. I had 4 Carbo and then surgery and followed with 6 Carbo/Taxol. Tried a vaccine trial during my first remission which lasted 9 months and then was put on Doxil. After about 5 months it stopped working and was put on Carbo again. I am also BRCA positive. Have been in remission about 3 months now and really enjoying it..Glad you found this site...Hope all goes well for you!
