231 new liver lesions, but who's counting anyway?!

Here are PET scan results:

231 numerous new hyperbolic lesions throughout the liver compatible with metastatic disease.  There are two hypermetabolic foci either in or adjacent to the pancreas.  CT abdomen and pelvis with IV contrast recommended.

Not the news we were hoping for.  But, if I need to find something to laugh about (and I surely do today), who the heck counts 231 lesions in the liver anyway.  Couldn't they just say >100...Lol.

Waiting to hear from my onc.  I know we will be marching on with a new treatment plan.  I am not giving up--especially with a wedding planned in April 2014!!!

Thank you all for your kind support.  I love each and everyone of you!

    Oh CC,

Not what I had hoped for you my dear friend either.  Who counts that many lesions anyway?  I asked for a recount (lol) though it isn't funny at all.

Of course, you are not giving up!  As John Paul Jones said in the old history books, "we have just begun to fight".  You haven't started any of the other stuff and perhaps we can walk hand in hand.

I am so disappointed for you especially on the eve of happiness with your daughter's new life.

Sometimes, I like to know who makes these plans, I like to punch them in the nose.  Though I never so much as punch anything in my life.  I'm short, and short people use the pen instead of the fist.  Still makes me so angry for you.  I had to read your posts twice.

Can't express how badly I feel for you.

    Gentle hugs,

    Doris

    Hi.....

I don't post real often, but always have so many here on my mind. This one caught my eye. I am a member on several different forums and have never seen or heard of a scan that read like this. You are right, why not just > than whatever???

You are such an amazing inspiration to so many and I'm sure your onc will come up with a plan that works for you. You often talk about the importance of being compliant and I'll bet that once again this will pay off.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers as you move forward..........

I am so sorry that you got this news.  I know it wasn't what you wanted to hear, nor, did any of us want to read it.

You will be planning your daughter's wedding, going to the wedding and dancing with your husband and celebrating that day!

When do you talk to your onco?

You keep that sense of humor!  You've been in this fight before, and, if necessary, you can do it again.

We're here to help you thru it!

    Hugs, Noel

Yes dear Doris, we will fight

Yes dear Doris, we will fight this together!  I have off and on been a little queasy and have continued to have mild to moderate right sided pain.  Otherwise, I have been feeling better since my thyroid meds were increased for hypothyroidism.  Go figure!

I have had to read the report numerous times today too and I am demanding a recount Wink.  Cancer is so darn sneaky.  The weird thing is that the bone mets is gone.  No signs on either the PET or the bone scan.  Just old scarring left.

We will have to buy cancer punching bags and really, really sock it to them.  I'm average height (5'6") a so I will punch higher and you can just pound away a little lower...Lol.

    Thank you for your support!

    I truly believe

you will look dazzling in your mother of the bride gown and you will be a charming wedding hostess. You may have some yukkiness to go through before you get there, but get there you will.

Your post about counting the numbers is funny, but of course, it's not. It's heartbreaking. I had so hoped the results would be something other than this.

I'm here along with a legion of pink sisters who will carry you through the days ahead.

    Big hugs,

    Victoria

    The wedding is a lovely

The wedding is a lovely distraction.  We have decided on the botannical gardens in the beautiful Cuty Park in New Orleans.  Getting excited!  Bah humbug cancer!

Well, CC, I've already got the boxing gloves

which were a gift sent by the Kindreds under Ayse's direction when I first was diagnosed with bone mets last year.  This new development really stinks.  But, I'm counting on your good docs to find the right combo to perform a search and destroy mission on those nasty little suckers--just like they did with the bone mets.

Stay strong and focused as you always do.  You have been such an inspiration to me and so many others.  By the way, the blanket was a wonderful way to combat the winter's chill--even here in Arizona.  In the winter, the desert gets cold at night.

Take good care--we're all pulling for you big time.

    Hugs, Renee

    Huge sigh

WHY?  This is so not what I wanted to read.  Your wit and humor during this time is PRICELESS.  I pray that your doctors will come up with a plan to slow this beast down and then give it the old heave ho!

    xoxo

    What???

Oh Cynthia I am so sorry to hear this.  Your spirit amazes me though.  I agree about the counting, kind of fruitless after a certain amount isn't it?  I hope you get a good plan when you see your oncologist.  You will be at that wedding I just know it!  I'm sorry you have to go through this again, it s**ks.  I'll be adding you to my prayer list.  Please keep your chin up and your sense of humor.

    ARGH!

I am so, so, so, so beyond sorry.  This is ridiculous.  Your post moved me to tears.  I am going to pray for you and for a cure to this hideous, evil, sneaky disease that we have shared.

I know that I am a relative newbie to the board, but I have observed enough to know that you are a warrior.  You're going to fight hard, inspiring every single one of us along the way.  And, we're going to keep on doing amazing things to give you faith and hope as you push forward to the wedding and to rest of your wonderful life.

We're holding your hand.  We're pulling for you.  Down with cancer!

    Believe in yourself

    Dear Eileen,

I am very sorry for unexpected results. Your are stronger than you realize. Stay strong we are here to cheer you up and give a hand

I am sure that you and your oncologist will put an agressive treatment plan together.  There are many options to treat your conditions and  both smile and humor are among those.  I Still hope that your radiologist messed up the numbers and CT will give a better picture of your liver.

I have had my two scans this week and a chat with my radiologist. He showed us different images, including PET/CT FDG uptake, lytic and sclerotic lesions, Bone scan images too.   Well a lot in report depends on writing skills of radiologist, who writes a report. Only few were English majors before going to a medical school

    Just not possible?

How can there be that many lesions in one little liver???  I think someone was seeing double or even triple when they counted.  They probably could not place an X on them as they counted to make sure they didn't count any multiple times.  I know you will get through this and we will be there with you every step of the way.  You will go to that wedding next year!

    HUGS!!!

    I'm so sorry

about this news.  I'm also confused.   If what you've been doing has put the bone mets into remission, what's with the stuff in the liver and pancreas?   How can they be sure it's breast cancer?  I don't know who counts 231 but I'm also not a radiation oncologist (duh). They are sort of math nerds.  Do you think it might be 2, 3, 1?  Like 2 here, 3 there, 1 somewhere else?    When do you see the oncologist?

Because I had the 2 cancers at the same time (breast and endometrial) I asked if it came back in for instance my liver how would they know which cancer it was since they both like to go there? And how do they know on a scan if it's a new primary cancer or a recurrence of one of the others?  I was told they would biopsy.  Now whether they would or not I don't know and I hope I never find out, but I'm just sayin' . . .

    Adding my hugs and prayers,

    Suzanne
