Beloved Storm
Again, from the kidney site, let me express my sincere sorrow. Can't imagine losing such a beloved pet in such a terrible way and have your daughter witness the ordeal. I know you probably have received this link many times over, but on the occasions I've lost my beloved pets I carry it in my pocket and pull it out and read each time I feel the tears coming on. Again, I'm so sorry.

I am so sorry. Tears
Vicki,
I am so sorry. Tears welled up as I read your post. I have little dogs as well, and they mean the world to me. We have neighbors (as I mentioned in the pet peeves post) that seem to think its okay to have large (and small) dogs off leash. Yesterday, our neighbors very large rottweiler got our of their backyard---again! Its a disaster waiting to happen to someone or someone's dogs. I don't even take my dogs out for walks anymore. I am so very, very sorry. It makes my heart ache.

they are so much a part of our lives, and to lose her this way is especially hard. I am so glad that your neighbor came with you, how hard this was for her also, and how giving of you to welcome her to stay with you.
Hugs,
Carol
Oh,, Vicki, I am so sorry! My eyes are filled with tears. What beautiful expressions of love--both Bailey Storm's devotion to you and your loving tribute to her.

I am so sorry and understand
I am so sorry and understand your hurt. It is horrible to lose a pet. Especially one that has been with you through a devastating illness. I think that creates a different kind of bond than if you weren't ill. My heart feels sooooo bad for you. I wish I could change time and change the situation. I had to put my cat of 13 years down last spring, and with this new scare with my dog, I was worried she was seriously ill.
On another note. I know what a gracious, caring, and loving woman you are. BUT, that incident should be reported to the police and if your city has one, the animal police. It hurts my heart to say it, but those labs need to be put down. I am not saying it to be vindictive and my heart aches for their family, but the dogs have been viciously destroying and attacking a dog while unprovoked. I would hate if those dogs escaped again and destroyed another animal. And, I fear for any small children as well.
Also, I don't know how you feel about it and how you are doing financially, but the labs' owner should be responsible for your vet bills for you beloved Bailey Storm.
I have seen this a lot on Animal Planet's animal patrol.
I am sure the labs are wonderful dogs for their family, but they have clearly shown that they ARE NOT safe for the public.
I realize she is your new neighbor and you probably wouldn't want to start a feud or tension, but as dog owners, we need to be responsible. If it were me, I would put my dog down if it killed another dog. It would hurt like heck (a better H word would be better) but it would need to be done.
I would hate for your other little dog to be outside on a walk and that happen to yet another one.
I wish you all you need to get through this, whatever it may be.
I am sending you a big ole hug and shoulder to cry on for you and your family.0 -

I'm so very sorry for your loss.
Unfortunately, I think I can truly empathise with such a horrific event. Dogs, 3 of them, came into my yard and killed one of my cats last night.
I'm sorry your daughter was terrorized to witness firsthand such a vicious, unprovoked, attack. How helpless and stricken she must have felt as it all unfolded.
For you to lose such a great comfort, a companion, in your time of need is heartbreaking.
These small furry animals that squirm their way into our hearts and lives are missed so very, very, much.

How very sad, I lost both of my Beautiful dogs, Bear and Angel this last year.
I miss them very much, what little soldiers they were during my Illness.
God Bless you Sister.

My heart is just breaking
My heart is just breaking for you and everyone involved. What a tragic accident! It sounds as if everyone involved was traumatized. I am so, so sorry! And I am so sad that you lost your chemo buddy.
I do know this: your pet had the very best possible life up until the end. I have a feeling that I would want to come back as one of Vicki Sam's dogs ;-). And you made the absolute right decision to end the suffering.
I am praying that you all can move forward and remember the great times with Baily. But do give yourself some time to grieve. And please give Alexandra a hug for me and let her know that there is nothing she could have done. Please let me know if there is anything at all that I can do!0 -
