Scan results...

Thank you to those who have wished me luck and prayers. I had both chest and pelvic scans a few weeks ago, then between holiday, family, and internet problems, have barely been on line for a while. Although the words NED were not there I am satisfied with "stable". They are watching a small cyst on my liver, and a nodule above the kidney. They claim to have some expected limitations in measuring the perianal area due to residual soft tissue, but in comparison good with no metastatic disease identified in the abdomen or pelvis. My onc said he would have written NED, so feel pretty good, just worried they can't get a really good pic. In a few months if I show a bit more improvement on the inflamation, he suggested I may want to see a specialist about the colostomy reversal, yet my general surgeon still advises against it. I have not decided yet and will get one more opinion. My mother died 7yrs ago from ovarion cancer, so with my history of breast cancer now they are doing genetic testing for a faulty Brac gene. If that is the case I will have a hysterectomy. That will have to be done by a specialist in Milwaukee because my pelvic organs are fused together from radiation and a little more complicated. I am told a hysterectomy done roboticly has a much quicker recovery time though. So, to wind up, still waiting on a future plan, but mostly feeling well,( some of the BC meds have lousy side effects, but all doable.) Hope you are all enjoying the summer, I am not a winter person and live in Wisconsin, so loving the heat!! As always, all in my prayers.

These results sound very good to me. Congratulations! It is good that your doctors are watching these little blips that show up on the scans and I hope they remain just as they are right now or diminish. If I were in your situation, I would definitely get a second opinion on the take-down surgery. It can't hurt to get another doctor's opinion. I hope you don't have to have the hysterectomy--please keep us posted on that. For now, breathe a sigh of relief on the scan results.

Thankyou so much. Its been a tough couple of years, but seems to be on the upswing, at least for now. My husband is also a cancer survivor and just this past December had a bone marrow transplant. He is on a lot of anti-rejection meds but also doing fairly well. We have both learned to look at life a little differently, and I even told someone that in a weird way, having cancer has been one of the greatest blessings in my life.....tho maybe another grandchild would have been an easier route! It is nice to breathe that sigh of relief for now.

    eihtak,

Congratulations to you on your scans. I love how you celebrate even the slightest little positive note and focus on that instead of anything negative or bothersome. I am sure your attitude will continue to keep you moving forward.

I agree a grandchild would sure be a LOT easier!

    Positive....
    Joanne,

Thankyou, when I was about 8yrs old I did a tap dance to the lyrics.."You've got to ac-cen-tuate the positive, e-lim-inate the negative, latch on - to the affermative, and don't mess with Mr. in-between." Still to this day, words to live by and dance to!
