Here's a link that I have posted over the years and update occasionally. It's a Google Map showing where we live.

Where in the World Are You

I originally started it as a means of support and sharing. A way to find those close to you and to offer support for those that might want to participate.

I have met a few survivors over the years, have lunch or dinner, and just share...It's always been a pleasure and great experience.

Check it out, and if you aren't on it and would like to be, let me know.

Best,
John

    I live
    Hi John,

Me too, I live in Albany, Oregon.

You know I sat on the sidelines (almost) this whole time, just listening and wanting to be the stranger you would never remember. As if the cancer wasn’t real. Then, by accident my wife ran into one of our neighbors at the hospital and other neighbors knew things did not look right at our house. I don’t know if I was naive, embarrassed or afraid to tell anyone about the caner. As it turns out, you only need to tell one family member and one neighbor and the information spreads like wildfire. There is no hiding from cancer, if you do, you do it alone.

Anyway, I digress; communicating with you folks on this website have given me more hope. To be honest, I have read some things that make me question the path of my treatment. Did I make the best, well informed decisions? I don’t know, my doctors are smart; the cancer center is nice, I hope I am better. I hate to think I went through all of this for nothing.

Sorry to ramble on here John, again, I live in Albany, Oregon (nice place).

I am sitting on my third floor deck
overlooking Beaver Lake, east of Rogers Arkansas. It is raining out, and a beautiful start to the day. Got my coffee and my dogs with me. Two years ago I didnt think I would get to do this again. later this morning I will cross the road to the east to jog a few miles in Hobbs State Wildlife Management Area, a fifteen hundred acre unimproved state park that Arkansas built evidently for my private use. I wouldnt live anywhere else.

I seem to be missing on the map. And I also noticed a large gap right in the middle of the U.S. with no CSN folks. What, is there no H&N cancer in those states? Or is it just computer illiteracy.

Skiffin, please put me in Fabulous Las Vegas, NV.

    Thanks!

    interesting point, Tommy
You may be on to something there, Tommy. It does seem like there are not many folks living in the plains states.

I've wondered about how few there are in the midwest I live in, also. Several from Chicagoland, and a couple in St.Louis, but not many more. Thing is, when you figure the entire state of Iowa has less than 1/3 as many people in it as Chicagoland does...Don't think H&N Patients in tx and post-tx aren't online with us because they're too busy baling hay and picking corn, not to mention slopping the hogs and milking the cows...I figure they just don't know about this forum.

    Working On It...
I've been trying to save you all, but Google Maps has some bug and isn't saving my changes.

In searching Google, I see where this has been going on for a month or so. I'll see what I can find and add you soon.

Pat, I added you awhile back, even gave you a little sunshine for the garden...

BTW, I can't remember, did you get the Massey back yet...?

does make you wonder a bit
Kent, do you think it is the clean farm living ? I'm beginning to wonder. when tommy posted that comment, I actually pulled up John's map and looked. Maybe slopping hogs and milking cows is good for you.

but it is now done, and I will pick it up tomorrow. Might just post a picture. Either that or one of my old Boston Whaler:)

    internet access
is still limited to many isolated parts of states. Hard to believe, I know. Rural areas make it not cost efficient to run the cables as return on investment is limited. I know a house in NW Illinois that just got internet service access this year. Sure, Satellite is available but it is cost prohibitive for many folks. Electricity took the same route some fifty years ago and some rural areas still don't have that. Hard wire prices are through the roof.

    Mid-West
It's come up before concerning the map....

Not sure if like you mentioned, maybe less people participating online. Or just perhaps not as many people for whatever reason having cancer....cleaner environment comes to mind as for air/water & soil.

There's a town 50 miles north of here
where electricity is all generators, and the only phone in town is at the Mercantile :)...Polebridge, Mt.
