Things have not been going well for Mary. She has been hospitalized for over a week with congestive heart failure and clots in lungs. She is going home on hospice care. Cancer is now in her lungs and liver and once again, it's smarter than the chemo. She has had so many complications, so much progression, and all in such a short time. She was diagnosed only a year ago. This is such a shock to everyone. I think we'd all accepted that she wouldn't beat this, but we did expect some response to something instead of only one thing after another. She did have CARIS testing and was on a Doxil which was supposed to be effective. Not.
My friend and I have the quilt top pieced now and it's off to the quilter on Thursday and it will be ready Friday. Then we just have to sew on the binding and embroider her label and attach it. She should be able to gift it to her son and fiancee early next week if all goes well.
Once again I ask for prayers for Mary.
Thank you all,
Suzanne
Unfortunate to read about the downhill spiral for your dear friend Mary. All one can do is try to beat this devil and win, but as we all know we have no control.
You're such a wonderful friend to assist with the quilting and be close to her during her extremely difficult times. She will always remember you for this and you can feel at ease that you helped comfort her.
Mary's in my prayers for support, strength and peace!!!

Oh Suzanne, it is so hard to watch a loved one battle against this vicious disease. You are a true friend to Mary - she could not ask for more love or support. To finish the quilt for her to give to her son will mean so much to her - I can think of no lovlier and more poignant gift.
Best wishes, Suzanne. I will remember Mary in my prayers.

Your helping to make the quilt a reality will bring peace to Mary. I am so sorry that she has suffered so much and that her medical team has been less than stellar. I hope that she passes without a great deal of pain.
What did her shoulder biopsy reveal?
All best to you.0 -

My thoughts and prayers go to your friend that she may be kept comfortable and and pain free. That some of those with apparently the same cancer show little or no response to treatments is so very distressing.
A few weeks back I attended a memorial service for poster strongformom's mother whom I had met at a local support group. She was diagnosed only last summer and her cancer never responded to the various chemos despite indications of being appropriate via Caris testing. She had been such a vibrant lady yet the cancer did not care.
It is such a wonderful gesture you and friends have made with the quilt project. What a lovely last memory for her to have. You are such a good friend!
Sending caring thoughts and prayers for Mary.

Mary passed away early this afternoon. Thank you all so much for your prayers and support of both her, who you don't know, and me, who you do. My heart is broken but it has also been enriched by her friendship.
