Who needs 2 kidneys!

This afternoon I rowed 10,000m and took 33 seconds off my best recent time. I was so pleased I checked my logbook and found that it's the fastest time I've done for 10k in the past 3 1/2 years. I've also won my last four golf matches. So, losing a kidney in December hasn't damaged my performance capacities to any great extent. Just a pity I'll have lost all the ground I've made up when I go under the knife again on Friday. (Having my last game for now in the morning - first round in a knockout tournament at Carnoustie.)

I hope that demonstrates to newcomers that, although the surgery is major and takes a while to recover from, we can get back to something close to normal in due course (though not all of us, it seems, since my GP shook his head and told me I'll never be normal).

So, it's handy to have a spare but one kidney is quite enough for most purposes.

    Good for you T-W. I've been saying all along that 2 kidneys are over rated. Excess baggage.

    Now if I could realize the truth of what I understand analytically, theoretically ? Would I ever ?

    One Kidney
    Hats off to those who donate a Kidney. They do it by choice. Some of us are born with only one Kidney. Those of us on this board with RCC are lucky. We had a kidney to spare. Every thing has to be taken in perspective.

    good luck to 'ye! Here's hopin' it all goes well. You have been a great help to me and an inspiration- it seems that removing a kidney does not slow down one's desire to be active or to talk :) Hope you're back up to speed in no time.
