Fallen Warrior ~ Jim in Delaware
MarineE5, sent me a message today that he had found out that Jim had passed away on February 25th.

In reading the obituary, I can't help but to think that Jim (knowing his dry humor), entirely or definitely had a hand in writing it...
Jim was a true inspiration and will be and is missed by many of us here....he was family.
Thoughts and Prayers go out to his family, friends and co-workers.

I was just coming to post the same. This is the post I made at CC...
Many of you know Delnative (Jim) was 5 years out of head & neck & had gone for his 5 year scan (he debated not going if I remember right) & was told the cancer was in his lungs after being cancer free. Jim checked in a few times & then did not come back; no matter how many of us bumped his posts or sent him messages; I also tried facebook. We found out that there was no hope for him; he did not wish to come back here for some reason; so we've been checking the obits fairly regularly. I'm very sorry to say that Jim has lost his fight& my one wish is that he has found peace. I hope that he some how knows we all cared. We respected his wish to not share his news although it was not easy.
Rest in peace Jim; you will be missed

....to a fine gentleman, who definitely brought a lot to this board and had a distinct way with his words. I'll be thinking of Jim when I go in the woods, knowing he was a great outdoorsman and for the deer hunting he loved so much.

that truely hurts. Whenever I think of hot peppers and Johns Hopkins, I'll think of Jim. I never told him, but thanks for making me laugh during that rough summer of '09. You were one of the great crusaders of this awful disease. You will be missed.

I haven't read the whole obit; I was out when I got the email from Ed & had enough time to put together the post at CC & bump a few of his old posts for anyone following them before I had to leave again. I managed to read a few paragraphs towards the bottom & have to agree that he probably wrote it. He was such a nice guy who always had encouragement for others & it stinks that he was not able to enjoy his retirement. The same thing happened to my dad; forced to retire due to prostate issues then never recovered from a biopsy & we learned he had terminal chemical related leukemia.0 -

I was driving to get an MRI when your email came in. I swear it was the longest MRI of my life. I was having problems getting a cell connection to read his obituary.0 -

May he rest in peace. It is always sad to see some one leave us. Last month, we buried a very close veteran friend who left us three months after discovery of his liver/colon cancer.0 -

He wrote the whole damned thing. How funny, how superlatively funny on so many levels while at the same time revealing and caring.
This is a caution to the rest of us: if you don't write your own obit, it's probably going to be boring

I've had a hard time getting the waterworks to stop since hearing about Jim's passing. He was such a sweet caring man and one of the first people I met when I joined here.
This is a true loss for everyone.

Farewell
Sorry to read this today. I really enjoyed his posts and his incredible humor. He was encouraging to me when I first came on the board. I'll be thinking of him on a sunset walk this evening.
