Hi.
Hello and welcome! Mine was not IBC, but I wanted to welcome you and let you know you'll get a lot of support here. Many sisters, like yourself, have been dx with this type and they'll be able to answer your questions and concerns.
I wouldn't wait an extra day with any type of bc to be honest. If I were you, I would push to be seen sooner and get to a plan ASAP so you are at peace.
You're not alone. Best of luck to you. And please keep us posted.0 -
I'm an IBCer
There are several others here who are IBC. Only between 1% and 5% of all Breast Cancers are Inflammatory Breast Cancer. Did your Dr suggest IBC?
What are your symptoms? Did your Dr suggest IBC? Until you have a path. report nothing is known - suspected perhaps but not known.
IBC doesn't make 'lumps' - it bands and nests hence the reason that chemo is done first to get it to make a 'lump' so the surgeon has a chance of getting it.
I don't understand waiting a week for a biopsy if Drs are thinking IBC. For me, I saw my PA at 11, was at Radiologyy at 1 for a new Mnmmo, told to wait and called back in for a Sono, Dr came in and did needle biopsies. Had path. report the next morning (Friday) by 8. Saw surgeon on Mon., rads Dr on Tues,, chemo Dr the next day. Lots of Scans, port in and started chemo 17 days from DX.
I'm 65 1/2 now - was DX'd less than 2 mths after I turned 63. I'm still riding NED (No Wvidence od Disease) ,
Any particular questions?

Try and not to worry yourself silly with everything you read when you google. There is a lot of misinformation out there and without an exact symptom diagnosis you could be looking in the wrong area. I pray your biopsy comes back negative, my cancer was IDC. When you find out let us know so we can be here for you should you travel down our paths. Waiting is the hardest game to play...

I'm another with IBC. It's good that they have moved up your biopsy, IBC can be scary. But the sooner you know what you're dealing with, the easier it will be for you. You should know though, that IBC usually responds well to chemo.
A couple of things for you to think about...first to confirm my IBC the doc did a skin biopsy. You may want to ask about that.
I also recommend that you take someone you trust to any consultation appointments. It helps to have someone else listening with you. There is so much to think about and so much to learn, it helps to have a second set of ears. Write down your questions, so you make sure to get them all answered.
Also, please come back here often. We like to know how you're doing, and you'll get lots of advice and info here.
Hugs,
Linda

Actually there are not a lot of IBC diagnoses. Only between !% and 5% of all diagnosed Breast Cancer are Inflammatory Breast Cancer. I an surprised that there are as many IBCers here as there are considering the % that are DX"d.

I was diagnosed 14 months ago & I'm doing ok. I'm glad to read that they have moved your biopsy. IBC is very aggressive & can spread in just hours. IBC mimicks mastitis which is an infection of the mammary gland. B/c IBC is rare, most drs will put the pt on a. 10 day antibiotic & have the pt return if this does not cure " the infection". However, I always stress to people to have the nurse take your temp, you will run a fever with an infection even if it's low grade.
I understand your fears right now. I remember just having a feeling of disbelief & terror. I won't tell you that this battle is easy, but I wil tell you that you can do this & we wil all be right here with you. I will be praying for you.

Please do not feel that you have to apologize for your grammar and spelling. I am sure your English is better than my German.
It is highly unusual for "squamous cell carcinoma" to be found in the breast tissue. When I was first diagnosed that is what was on my pathology report, also. My surgeon was very suspicious of that report so he asked for my tissue samples to be sent to a different lab for review. That lab said the tissue was "adenocarcinoma." The sample was also sent to Pathwork Diagnostics in Redwood City, CA for a Tissue of Origin test. That test was able to determine with almost complete certainty the source of the cancer cells.
I wish you luck as you begin this journey. The Pinks are always here for you.
