Prayers are coming your way.
Can't trust that day......
Now that is stuck in my little pea brain.
Prayers going out to you, and I hope that this time you have an easier time, and kick this things arse to the curb, for good!0 -
Amifostine
Kinda weird they'd prescribe that if you aren't having rads to the mouth area...not sure where when you say lower...
I know it's mainly to help prevent the thick mucous (which I never had at all), but it also helps retain/regain salivary function.
I had to bail on them also, about number 32 of 35...

Salivary glands in left cheek will get some of the zap, neck should get the rest of the hit. I will find out when I start to burn.0 -

I guess I was lucky I was able to take the Amifostine all the way through my rad treatment, just hate getting the shot in the belly every time.

Yes, they left me with a quarter sized dry itchy welt each time...They'd hit a different spot everyday to help minimize the dry patches....
The girls were funny about it though....on my last day they drew a big smiley face on my belly...LOL.

It was a good thing I was fat back then and had a big belly for them to poke.
Oh yes I remember the itching too, what also got me was all the water they wanted me to drink before each treatment, I just said hell on that give me the water in a big bag

I had a few minor sores the first week and then nothing. I started rinsing my mouth with glutamine (it's an amino acid)1 tsp dissolved in a glass of water. I found a report of a clinical trial on the stuff. You can drink it too, it's suppose to help with your protein metabolism. You can get it at any health food store. I also brushed my teeth 4 or 5 times a day during treatment. My oncologist was impressed with the lack of sores.0 -

Hopefully I won't get them this time. I found this site after my first fight. So much good information I will put to use this time.
You are a second timer with this C so you know and understand all or most of what to expect. I wish I would have found this site back in 2002 when I first got this stuff, like you it would have been a great help for me.
Wishing you the best on Monday
