    Too many...
to mention. The one that surprises me the most is that I understand what the stages I, II, III, and IV mean. Never wanted to know that.

The list is endless , well ok nearly endless!!!!
No one in our family has had cancer, well , my nanny died of breast cancer but I was to young to understand it, least of all the lingo that accompanies cancer!
I almost feel like I could be a oncologist !!!! I have learnt so much about this disease.

NED (wouldn't i have been lovely for mum to dance with him if only for a few short months!!!the little monkey!)

Every chemo drug there is for OVCA PPC!

first , second , third line treatment!

    Gyn/onc

Sandra Chapman centre! Fantastic place , wish I had never been there though!

Cyber knife treatment (doesn't fit the right criteria!)

End of life.....Don't even want to think about that one

    Ascites , go away please!

The list goes on and on, mum is a true fighter,I am honoured o have such a strong and beautiful mum, she is my hero xxxxxxxxxx

    Never knew I had a omentum ,
Never knew I had a omentum , let along one that could be removed. I also never knew that my vagina was flat and not round. The things you learn when you are 57 years old.

I always thought of people like a chocolate Easter Bunny,....
I always thought of people like a chocolate Easter Bunny,....bite off the head and they're hollow inside! HA! Now I know WAAAAY more about the inner workings of my body than I ever wanted to!

My vocabulary has sure increased too in the past 3 years, words like:
    adjuvant
    chemo refractory
    radioembolization
    radio frequency ablation
    infusion
    a ga-zillion new drug names
the names of a ga-zillion types of different cancers
    receptors
    antigens
    co-morbidity
    tissue assays
    lymph node dissection
    needle biopsy
    interventional radiologist
    IMRT
    brachytherapy
    hepatic artery

You're right, the list is endless. I can read OncologySTAT now without looking up every other word. That's more than anyone should have to know about something as depressing as cancer.

Just the other day I went to
Just the other day I went to the hospital to get my blood work done and as I was waiting for the elevator the door opened and a little one about 9 years old and obviously has cancer got off and one of my first thoughts was "think of the terminology that little one knows now". It made me feel real grateful that I didn't have to learn some of this stuff until my 40's.

I'm learning a whole lot more
I'm learning a whole lot more about immunology than I ever thought I needed to know. Cancer has been a very humbling experience for me as I'll admit I was a bit cocky about my health. Even now I tell people that if it wasn't for my little problem with the ovarian cancer diagnosis, I'm actually REALLY healthy!

    Mine would be PET/Scan
Gosh, I have learned so many words. Funny part about the whole discussion is that how I have taught my family these words too. Everytime I hear something new.... they get to learn too. But maybe that is how it is suppose to work... just maybe one person in my family it might help or protect them. For my word I guess it would be PET/Scan... I zero in on it because it is like this tells me the truth.

    Good Question
    For me it is definitely:

    CA-125
    ascities
    carbo/plat
dealing with cancer in general and the fact that while everyone I know is getting married and having kids I may die.

Life is too short and cancer sucks a$$. Everyday counts

A lot of words are new to
A lot of words are new to me, but the ones that stand out for me are the debulking and NED. I always assumed remission was the goal. I did not know NED was even an option.

Health is the goal for me
    Dear R34

"NED" is a way the medical people can say "we can't find the cancer but we aren't gonna promise it isn't there either."

"Remission" is a way the medical people can say "your cancer appears to be gone but we aren't gonna promise it won't show up again."

"Health" is an attitude as well as a state of being. I want to keep my eye on that prize!

    I can't remember before
SUV and NED, first line treatment, and on and on. Before my mother was diagnosed, and ultimately lost her life to uterine cancer, cancer was something that happened to other people. We were somehow immune. Other than my grandpa's prostate cancer, we had no history.. and then my mother was diagnosed, and an uncle passed away 2 mos after her(Prostate) We didn't even know he was ill. Then my Aunt told us of a great aunt that had cancer many years ago... They thought it was stomach at the time, but it very well could have been uterine or ovarian.. Now I no longer think of terms of if I ever get cancer, but when.. when I get cancer. Cancer is the boogeyman in my life... every ache, every pain, ever upset stomach might be cancer..... and this just from being a caregiver, s daughter, a cheerleader on the sidelines.. Cancer changed me and not for the better..
