Help! Body Aches!

in Ovarian Cancer #1
Hello...I just registered and am so glad to have found this place. I was diagnosed with ovca in May when I went to the emergency room thinking I had a bad appendix. I have since had a debulking surgery and just finished my 3rd round of chemo (carbo/tax). The first two days after chemo are so so, but by the 3rd day, I am all aches and pains. This seems to last longer each time. This particular time, my torso is killing me. It just aches! Has anyone experienced this? If so, can you give me some idea of how to get some relief? Thanks all.     Hi! I just had my 3rd round
    Hi! I just had my 3rd round of carbo/taxol.avaistan. This was the first time I had body aches. I just took Tylenol. It helped some. THis third treatment just caused extreme fatigue for me. I'm glad you found this site too. It has been a blessing to me. Best wishes!

    I had body aches too, after my second carbo/taxol treatment. It was worse after my third and my dr. prescribed medrol that I took on days 4 - 10 after treatment. It is a steroid that you take 6 pills one day, then 5, then 4, etc. It worked great for me and I had no more pains.

    I don't remember having aches and pains
    during chemo. I guess I was so sick I didn't notice. Once I felt better and I mean felt really great, the aches and pains started. I had my last chemo on 9/15/2010 (wow almost a year!) and I still have the aches and pains. I have been working out and walking and the pains lessened alot but the last couple of weeks my knees are really hurting. I emailed my onc a few months ago about this issue and she suggested I see my primary because it might be arthritis. Oh brother!

    You look so cute in your picture. Is that at chemo? When I was at chemo I took pictures of myself with my cel and would text them to friends. I would stick out my tongue and make funny faces. I really didn't need to try that hard to look goofy as I was bald at the time.

    Welcome and Yes to the body aches
    I had terrible body aches while on carbo/taxol and also had bone aches in my legs. Report any side effects to your ONC or chemo nurses and they will give you meds or in some cases alter the strenght of the chemo next time around.

    Did the aches and pains go away after you were done with the chemo? I also have terrible bone aches in my legs. :(

    I was having such bad bone
    I was having such bad bone pain and from 2nd to 3rd treatment the bone pain was there the whole time and by the time I made it to my third treatment they had to give me something for the pain because I was hurting so bad they have now put me on morphine two times and day and oxycodone for break throughs so far I am only using the mophine I am not having any break throughs the only down fall is I can't drive and I hate having my indipendace taken away but the bone pain was so bad I will give up driving for now hope you get better

    Unfortunate side effects
    from this combo of chemo drugs. The pain does go away usually a week after each tx. If too painful ask md for something stronger so you can rest. I had to have percacet to help with my pain, usually took at night. I was able to sleep for a few hours. I am in remission now and sometimes I get bone pain but it goes away , good luck you have 3 left..val

    body aches
    I was not bothered much by body and bone aches while on chemo but have had real discomfort since chemo ended 3 months ago. I did have some arthritis before I was diagnosed but did not have to take anything for it. Now I have pain in my shoulders, tailbone, hips and other bones. Since so many have mentioned this I thought it was due to the chemo but I am wondering if the chemo just exacerbates the arthritis. I plan to discuss it with the docs soon.

    When I first started chemo I didn't notice any aches and pains until my 3rd treatment. I would get chemo on a Tuesday and by Thursday and Friday I was very achy for a few days. It was always worse at night for me. You can ask your doctor for meds. Pain medicine works for me and I guess depending on what state your in herbals should help too. Don't forget to walk. My docotor said even if you don't feel like it try to walk every day even if its just a little. So I would walk and everytime I didn't want to I always felt better after. Welcome to the board by the way. :-)

    I had body aches after my
    I had body aches after my 3rd treatment Aug. 9. I think the shot 24 hrs. later caused some of mine. They told me that some experience flu like symptoms. Yes, walking does help. My room at my sister's is upstairs, so I am climbing up and down the stairs several times per day.

    Oh boy, did I ever have the body aches. Especially my legs. My oncologist told me I could start taking Advil the day before to help prepare for it. I also increased my water quite a bit and tried to eat things with potassium like bananas and such. I do believe it did all help, but it for sure still was uncomfortable. My last chemo was a year ago and I still have times where I really feel it in my legs. Especially right before it rains. I've become quite good at predicting rain. :-)

    Hi,
    Just a foot note. I'm new also.
    It is good to hear of others having the same issues.
    never ending. Last treatment Apr. 26..I am in alot of pain.
    What do you do.
    I too went through the debulking, unbelievable. Hang in there.
    I too love finding this site.

    I am not using pain killers as they constipate me. Hope you are getting some relief!

    I don't use pain meds, other than advil. I need to start walking though! I am lazy about this. I want to just rest, but I know I need to do some exercise. Thanks for your post. <3

    To Beary and Robkel, welcome to the board. You will find lots of help here, and friendship and fellowship too.

    When I had chemo last year, I was fortunate not to experience body aches. My only problems were loss of hair (which of course was inevitable) and constipation.

    I am currently in remission but I do see my oncologist next week for a check-up and fervently hope I am still in this happy state.
