I just got off the phone with Mike and the good news is his Son and him are at home. He is doing a lot better but still in a lot of pain, and his Liver is still holding up to the chemo. He goes in Wednesday for a bone marrow test to see if any of the Leukemia is still there so please continue to keep them in your prayers.

    Another flippin update!
    Hello my dear friends.

I'm just jumping on to give you a quick update as I have to get back to the hospital. Today my son was supposed to have a spinal tap and a bone marrow biopsy done so that we would know if this last month of chemo got it all. Unfortunately, while the anesthesiologist was preparing him for sedation he noticed that his heart was 211 and he stopped the procedure. The moved him to the emergency room and he's now in the ICU for observation. They gave him a medication to try to change the hearts erratic rhythm but it didn't seem to work and then a little later it seemed to change on its own but not low enough. His legs and feet started swelling an incredible amount this last few weeks to the point he can not walk on them without crying out in pain. The put him on a low sodium diet two weeks ago along with tight leg stockings. A few nights ago I awoke to his screaming and I found that the stockings had made a 2" crater ring just below his knees. I removed them but he cried in horrible neuropathy pain from his knees to his swollen feet for two days. I had questioned them a few times this last few weeks as to whether or not it might be associated with his heart but they didn't think it was because of the positive results from the echo cardiogram that was done prior to him starting this recent regimens of chemo. Due to all the steroids they have him on his entire body is now extremely swollen. Apparently isolating the swelling of his legs and feet as a possible separate issue seems to have confused them, until now. His feet have become so swollen that the skin is shinny and beginning to split in areas. I'm very worried as no one seems to have a solid answer as to whats causing all of this.
I now they are planning more tests and due to his low platelets right now there are some that they feel are to risky to do.
Please continue to pray for him. I'm starting to feel that some of the Greeks that originally interpreted and rewrote the scriptures may have consumed a little to much Ouzo and got that part of the scripture a little off where it reads something to the effect that God won't give you more than you can handle! I have gone through all our clothes and thrown out all of our shirts that appear to have bulls-eyes printed on the backs. lol.....Yeah, I'm starting to lose it.

    Love ya all

Yes! Definitely get rid of the shirts with the targets!
I often wondered about that whole thing where God doesn't give you more than you can handle, myself.

I cannot imagine having to endure everything that your son has endured. I am praying that they can get to the cause of the swelling and get him stable and comfortable.

I am hoping that you are eating and taking care of yourself, as well.

Don't forget, you can call me anytime. Always in my prayers~

    Hugs,

Hello Mike, your and your sons continued courage are hard to express for me. Maybe those Greeks meant "endure." Job complained that he'd been given more than he should have. I know what your son is enduring is more that I could handle. I second Sweet's encouraging you to make sure you're eating and taking breaths and meds. I strongly believe that you and your boy deserve relief, and I'm going to pray for that.

    handle it well
    Chefdaddy,

You are handling all this better than I would. I would be screaming and yelling and out of control if they could not tell me what was going on with the swelling of my sons legs. I can handle a lot for myself but when it is my children or grandchildren, don't tell me you don't know! You think a mother bear protects her cub? All kidding aside, may I suggest that you visualize your prayer by seeing yourself placing your sweet boy in the arms of Jesus and letting him heal and comfort him.

May the God of the impossible heal your son, ease his pain and give the doctors a clear vision of how to be an instrument in his hands.

    So Much to Handle!
    Mike:

So sorry to hear about the latest your son is going thru. Don't know if you've heard this or not, but I've seen an addendum to that God doesn't give you more than you can handle that goes: I know God doesn't give us more than we can handle, but sometimes I wish He didn't trust me so much! Prayers for you and your son. He has endured so much at such a young age. Take care of yourself and God Bless and prayers are daily being said for you and yours!
