I am soooo sorry.. I will be praying for you and your hubby.. Take care.. Sending a big hug your way.
Debbie and Jim: Praying for you both and your doctors that they confirm it's "just an infection" and they can get it knocked out quickly with antibiotics. Sending hugs from Chicago !0 -
Inflamation
Not sure of your situation, but I know after my first rounds of chemo the area of cancer swelled and became inflamed.
They didn't really know the cause and prescribed Levaquin, it took care of whatever was going on.
Thoughts and prayers that Jim's is just something minor going on as well...
Best,
John0 -

So Sorry - Prayer and Hugs On the Way
Debbie:
So sorry to hear about ear thing. Here's hoping it's an infection and they get it taken care of quickly. Hang in there. I truly know how tough that is to do. Prayers to both of you! God Bless!

Debbie, lifting you and Jim up in prayer. I'm sorry he has turned into Mr Hyde. I know there were a few times I turned into a lunatic and wasn't very nice.
Hoping this is just a speed bump, and he will be over the hump and continuing onward and upward quickly.0 -
PRAYERS
Prayers and positive thoughts for a speedy recovery on the way.
Has he been thoroughly screened for depression? I had some pretty major bouts with it in the beginning.

No deprssion screening. He is doing better today and the swelling is down. Doctor said that it is an infection and once that is gone he will be ok. Apparently the infection can mess with the mind too. Good news is they did a CT scan and the doctor said the tumor has shrunk considerably so I am thanking God for that process.
Thanks for the prayers.

Ya gotta love and hate the news, sorry to hear about the infection and what it does but ya gotta love the news for shrinkage. Prayers going out for the doctor's that they can give Jim the right drugs to fight off the infection and strength for Jim to continue fighting. Prayers also for you debbie, for wisdom so you can continue to support Jim with any and all needs.

We never had good experiences in the hospital (I can hear Doug snorting as he reads this in Mexico) but I'm so glad this helped, and you got good news to boot. I hope you are both getting some real rest right now.0 -

Good news is good!
Yes you're right, the infection can cause temporary mood/personality changes, he may have had an associated fever and dehydration and those can contribute, as can low calorie intake and so many other features of cancer treatment.
Been there, was afraid things would never get better. But things DID get better and I know they will for you and Jim too. Prayers and positive energy that you both get through this tough spot with grace and the love you share for each other.0 -

Well today's problem is low red blood cells. Went from 10.3 Monday to 7.6 this morning. Big drop. Recieving a blood transfusion today. Doc says still will probably go home tomorrow. I hope this is the last side effect for awhile.0 -

Hoping that the transfusion gets him back to feeling better and that is the last of these side effects.0 -
Hi Debbie
Sorry to hear this as I know with me the doctors took a very long time before they would admit that I had an infection and not cancer again. By the time they figured it out the infection left me with a lot of bad side effects. Will keep you both in my prayers.

did/do they have him on? I'm curious because some antibiotics can cause RBC to drop (although I didn't think any of those were being used any more). Other things can too (like chemo) so it's probably not that, but I like to collect anecdotal information about drugs (can you tell?).
I hope he bounces back soon - there were times where we thought there was no end to side effects. . .0 -
