Lymph node found in breast and tech said they usually aren't found there. Comments?

My ultrasound of my breasts showed a lymph node in the right breast at about position 8 o'clock. With my history of lymphoma I asked them to do a needle biopsy which they are doing this coming Tuesday. They said that usually lymph nodes aren't found in breast tissue but occassionally they see this and the node looked perfectly benign from the ultrasound picture that I saw.

Anywho I was wondering if anyone had experience with this kind of thing?? My GP said that there are a few markers for cancercous nodes and this lymph node showed no signs of anything but with my background she agreed - better check it out. I had a needle biopsy in my other breast years ago and it turned out to be lymphoma. Not too stressed about this one but of course there is always the possibility. I have had alot of treatments and couldn't take much more so options are becoming more and more limited for me.

Anyone have any experience with lymph nodes hanging out in the breasts? Does it mean anything in particular with regards to diagnosis?

Thanks for your time.

Blessings,

Bluerose

I usually do not listen to technicians
    Bluerose,
Sorry that you have to worry, however I agree it better be checked.
Lymph vessels are everywhere and small lymph nodes are in the breast too. If you have concerns please see a breast surgeon who will be able to answer your questions. Good luck with biopsy . Wishing it will be benign.

    I had one removed
    Hi Bluerose,

After my first lumpectomy I had a lymph node in my same breast pop up swollen. The surgeon said it was most likely due to a reaction from the sentinel lymph node being removed (in my case). He tried doing a biopsy and in the middle of the procedure ended up removing it. I was quite relieved actually, because at the time they were unsure whether it was a lymph node or another tumor. It ended up being benign. I hope the same for you. I know it's scary. Hugs!

    Bluerose,
    I do mammograms

    Bluerose,
I do mammograms for a living so I have seen lymph nodes in the breast. As far as I know, they are not common but not an indication of any thing in particular. Always good to have it checked out though especially with your history.

Sorry, but my prayers are with you.
I really don't know much about lymphoma, although my brother has small cell lymphoma along with cronic lymphoma leukemia, but other than being told it is fully curable, I dont know much! So I will send prayers.

    Hi Julie
Thanks for the response and information. I wish I had pushed for having it removed but we will see how it goes from here. I guess when I had a lump removed from the other breast years ago and it turned out to be a recurrance from my NHL when something showed up in the other breast I thought, 'oh great'. However when I touched both lumps on finding both my cancers I had this shocklike sensation go through me as if my body knew what it was and I didn't have that feeling when they found this thing so I am hoping that means something positive.

Still, yup it's scarey, especially when we know what cancer can mean to us with treatments and all but I am not doing too badly and right now am more worried about my cat who may have a brain tumour or who has just had 2 strokes. Sigh. Never rains but pours sometimes eh? lol.

I find posting on this board and helping others helps me pass my time constructively plus now and again I need some input for myself. Glad you found this board, it can be a great support mechanism. Thanks for you support, it has helped.

    All the best,

    Very kind Suzie
Thank you so much for the prayers and kind words. I believe 150% in the power of prayer so I thank you for that.

Hope all is well with you and yours. Love the cat picture. I have two of my own, one is very sick with a possible brain tumour or strokes. She went deaf from whatever it is recently and has lost alot of her balance. However the adaptation abilities of the cat has been very inspirational to me, watching her rally from each event she has had and watch how she compensates for balance issues all on her own. Quite remarkable.

    Take good care.

    Hi New Flower
I am pretty used to worrying after having my first cancer diagnosis 25 years ago but it's still unnerving when new symptoms arise or God forbid, a lump. If there is any doubt on my needle biopsy I will be into a breast surgeons office in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the advice and kind wishes.

    Thanks so much Cindy
That is exactly what the tech said, they can appear in the breast but not all that common and they aren't an indicator there of anything in particular. But yes that is what I decided to do and in fact it was me who requested a needle biopsy and my GP agreed, with my history.

Thank you for confirming what my tech said, makes me feel better. Thank you.

    All the best,
