PET scan
A brief background since there are so many new members here. In May of '09 I was diagnosed with NSCLC in left lung and 2 weeks later, after a PET scan, I was also diagnosed with SCC Laryngeal cancer. Went through chemo and rads and have been in remission since. When I was first diagnosed my oncologist said there was a small "spot" in my right lung but he didn't feel it was anything but they would keep an eye on it. I was having a CT scan every three months to monitor my lungs and they were all coming back good - no change. I had finally graduated to only needing the scan every 6 months and I was so excited!!!
In February I went back for my first scan in 6 months and the radiologist said there were "subtle changes" in my left lung and put me back on a 3 month schedule for my scans. I had another scan in May and he told me the tumor was "more distinguishable". When I asked him if this meant it had grown all he would say was it was "more distinguishable". He sent the scans to the Cancer Review board for their recommendation and they said to order another PET scan. It seems that not only is the tumor in my left lung "more distinguishable", the "spot" in my right lung has grown also. I go Tuesday the 14th for the PET but won't hear from my radiologist until the 20th because he will be on vacation. The delay in getting the results isn't really bothering me, I think it's because I'm really expecting to hear bad news and I'm in no hurry for that. Like I told my sisters, I'm praying for the best but preparing for the worst
I hope everyone here is doing well,
Glenna

I had stage 4 tongue cancer and double neck dissection with cancer in one side of my lymthnods. I started having sever pain in my ear. My doctor sent me for a ct scan and it came back bad. I now have a cyst in my jaw and the socket my jaw sits in is deteriated because of cancer. Just because you have a bad ct ct scan does not mean its cancer there are other things to think about. I will be praying and thinking about you. David0 -

You're in my Prayers. You might wanna PM Delnative, if you haven't already. Could be he'll have some insight to H&N C that shows, MAYBE, in the lungs, and that insight will help you keep it in the Positive even more than you are.

Hi Glenna
Please keep us informed when you get the results of the PET scan, I too am praying for you my friend.
My last PET showed a spot on my right lower lung and I do have problems breathing sometimes but I believe it is the medication that I am taking for the excess fluid on the brain. Maybe I need to get it checked but I will wait to hear from you.
Take care while in God’s workshop and remember the Master has a plan

Thank you all for your positive thoughts and prayers. With all of you behind me I know that everything will work out. I also keep reminding myself that they have been watching my lungs closely for a year and a half so these two new spots were caught early.
To my Abi-friends...you are the greatest and I know you are always there for me, calming me and encouraging me...Love you guys!!!
Everyone here is special to me and it warms my heart to know you will all be here for me no matter how things turn out. I take great strength from your words!!
Bless you all!!!

I will be praying for you and your family. We have the same out look on things. Pray for the best, but prepare for the worst. Cancer has a mind of its own, you never know what that little sucker is up to.0 -
