Not sure if this helps...
Right after my last PET scan the technologist asked where my rumors had been located. I told her. She replied back, asking if I was having any issues with teeth on my lower right jaw. I do have a tooth in that location that is tender, I think a root canal has failed. The tech indicated that she wasn't sure what she was looking at but with my complaint of tooth pain, the problem is solved. The tooth needs to go, love post chemo teeth! Apparently, an infection in the mouth will uptake the radioactive marker. I believe that the radioactive uptake, is just that. It offers medical professionals the opportunity to see all of the hot spots caused by the increase in uptake. So, it's not always cancer. Kellie0 -
Pet/CT
I would be glad it picked it up if it's that small.I've already had a pet/ct miss small nodes.Just happened to rub my neck and noticed it.So went to an ENT and he ordered an MRI with contrast and it showed not 1 but many small nodes.Would agree it most likely is a node or infection.Take care,Michele Dx95 FNHL30 -

She was complaining of a sore throat the day before the scan, and about a month ago she had a bad head cold and cough.0 -

She spoke to her doctor again today, and he is still waiting for the CT results. He did say that it showed on both sides of her neck. He also said that it could just be swollen nodes. Keeping our fingers crossed and praying. Hopefully it is just from the cold/sore throat that she had.0
