Don't lie
If you lie, then you have to remember the story you told the person/s to get them to believe you. If you tell the truth it makes it much simpler because you don't have to remember anything extra.0 -
the written word
"Never put in writing something you wouldn't mind being read in a court of law."
But, if I could thank her for so many things, I would. I was 26 when she died in 1981.
Since then, I have realized the impact she made on my life. I didn't really let her know then.0 -
Well...
Thers a couple. Never say, be somewhere or doing something, that if Jesus walked in you'd be ashamed. Boy there were times I would checking and hoping He would'nt walk in. 2) Fulfill your needs before your wants. Still try to go by both of these words of wisdom.
This was my grandmother. She saved me when I was around 2. She was/is my mother. Happy Mothers day, Shammy.0 -

" I beat this and YOU CAN too!"
When I was down during BC treatments, she wrote to me often and reminded me that she had ovarian cancer at age 39 and was given a very poor prognosis. She is with us today and is 79~.0 -
In Memory
I love this post. My mother passed when I was 33. I married the following year and had my one and only child the next year. She didn't know my daughter, but lived to see her 15 other grandchildren.
One of the things she said was, in a nutshell, "Don't sweat the small stuff." She was very resourceful and independent. Life wasn't easy for her, but she never gave up. She spoke her mind and had a tremendous green thumb!
God bless her memory.0 -

My mom taught me not to lie.
She told me not to talk about others because it will get back to them.
My mom taught me to treat people the way I would want to be treated. Respect them.
She taught me to be mannerly.Like Yes, Please,Thank You,You're Welcome.I do this alot.
OMG this is something she didn't tell me but made me do it.I threw a piece of paper out of our car window when we took a ride. She stopped the car and made me go back and pick it up.She said "Never throw trash out the window".It is being a litter bug.I taught my sons the same thing BUT still trying to teach my husband.LOL
There is much more she taught me.I try to live it but hard the way things are today. People are crude today. I ignore people sometimes because that is what my mom would want me to do.She taught me walk away from trouble. Don't argue with them.

My Mother always taught me to live and let live.
She also said "Why worry when you can pray."0 -
There is so much that my Mom taught me........
* How to love unconditionally, give endlessly, and care deeply.
* DO NOT lie, you eventually will get caught.
* You CAN do anything you put your mind to.
* To be strong and courageous while I was going through treatment.
My Mom and I are very close. We have shared MANY teaching moments and I can go on forever!!

Mom knows best
Mom used to always say that "as much as you bicker with Wendy (younger sister), you'll be that much closer later on." I would gag every time she would say it. But guess who was right?
Hope this gives the mother of bickering girls hope :-)0 -

I adored my mom's old world wisdom
One thing she taught me is to respect life, yes even that of an ant.
And up to day I am always in awe of the wonders of nature and it's creatures.
She would always watch nature shows with me.
Another very powerful lesson she taught me was before you react to
words that someone is telling you, may they be hurtful or words of
praise, gage your reaction according to the person who's saying them.
This one saved me a lot of time, she said who's more crazy? Th crazy
person or the one who tries to reason with a crazy person? I learned
to pick my arguments.
Hugs,

That was her saying when things looked bleak. It has helped me get through some tough times.

When I started dating,
Mom said - 'don't meet them, make them come to the door for you'. I was so embarassed then, but after a few years I saw the wisdom in that for so many reasons. Safety, of course, but seeing what the guy was made of, went a long way in what I thought of him. If he wouldn't come to the door, he wasn't worth seeing.
It's not the only piece of advice, but the one that changed the way I looked at alot of things.

She always said "when it's
She always said "when it's your time to go, it's your time to go". Unfortunately she went much too early, only 3 months after her 40th birthday. I was 14 at the time and the eldest of 2 children.
My dad always said, " Honey, God will always provide, God will never abandon you". He also said to look for the good in people, because there is good in everyone.0 -
Nice Post!
My mama taught me so much! But there are a few words I really appreciated:
1. You are the owner of your secrets (meaning your personal life and what others tell you), and the slave of what you speak of.
2. You never finish knowing someone.
3. Don't trust anyone.
4. Don't ever speak bad of your family as you'll be speaking of yourself.
I miss her.0
