It's Back and so am I, for some help and advice
Treatment ended June 24, 2010.
Ca125 remained stable until two weeks ago.
Ten days ago,CA125 was 36 (more than double what it was in December)
Today, it's 82.
Tomorrow, CT scan is scheduled.
Thursday, meeting with med/onc to discuss next steps.
Suggestions and advice are welcome!
Hugs,
Leesa

I am sorry you have to go through this again and so soon. I am in my first remission so I can only imagine having to face the possibility that the monster is back. I guess you have to see what the CT scan shows. Hopefully it will be good news. I am sure you will get some good advice from some of the ladies who have experienced this already. Best of luck, you are in my prayers.

No advice or words of wisdom just hugs and well wishes. So far it sounds like they are basing recurrence only on a number.. maybe the CA is elevated for another reason. Hoping for a good, clean scan.

Please tell us what's happening , I am so sorry to read this. We seem to be having a lot of bad news on here lately , keep your chin up ,you've done it once you can do it again. (( hugs )) Liz x0 -
Leesa,
keep us posted on the results of the CT. An upward climb usually indicates things are moving. BUT, there is still a slim chance that it is a fluke. I pray for that and for peace of mind for you regardless of what the results are. The majority of the gals here have had a reucrrence and are still here to talk about it and support you.

PS I had a CT yesterday too, it must be the scan season.....0 -
I can totally relate. May
I can totally relate. May 21st, 2010 was my last chemo treatment. My CT shows modules around liver and spleen and the CA125 is up to 182 from 8 in Nov, 2010. I have an appointment May 2 at the cancer clinic. I sure another round of chemo will be next.0 -
This sucks !
This disease has no ryhme or reason, I hope your ct scan is clear and the ca125 went up for some unrelated reason but if not you are tough and will just go on to round two and kick butt ! Wishing you good news with my fingers crossed !( and toes)

I'm sad to hear you have to go through chemo...again. I don't know what you will be offered.
It sounds like you should respond well to cisplatin or carbo again. The new approach is to combine it with "dose dense taxol." I don't know if you went through weekly taxol last time or if your oncologist is into the dose dense approach. The dose of taxol is reduced when it is given more frequently--it is suspected to have an anti-angiogenic benefit.
Some women have had the Avastin added in along with the platinum drug & taxol--that's what I would want to try if I were in your shoes. Hitting the bad guys on several different pathways seems to be the way to go...and if you are still eating sugar, I would stop.
Sugar causes a spike in insulin and insulin in an inflammatory hormone and a growth hormone. You want to keep inflammation down as much as possible.
Best wishes on your next remission.0 -

I was so glad to read your update. That is good news. I hate the CA125. I hate it. It just puts a scare into all of us. And we all wait to hear what it is. It just controls our lives.
Yayyyy for your CTScan.

Hi Leesa,
I don't have anything profound to say! Recurrence is disappointing to say the least! Looks like you went 10 months which is better than less than 6 months (so they say).
I am going to post my update either today or wait until I see gyn/onc and it is not what I wanted to hear.
Stay positive and keep the Lord ever before you.
Love,
