Joint/Muscle Pain Post Carbo and Taxol

My Mom had her last treatment for an aggressive clear cell uterine cancer on Jan. 19, 2011. 3-4 weeks post chemo she developed pain (severe at times) in the back of her knee. She saw her PCP who ordered an ultrasound to check for blood clot and it came back negative. She is still experiencing the pain, though not when walking, more when sitting and laying in bed at night or standing up from sitting. She was on a 3 week on, 1 week off cycle of carbo and taxol from July 2010 to Jan. 2011. I have been trying to find out if this could be chemo related. I am finding that it could be related to the chemo and also something called arthritis syndrome. Any information at all would be helpful so she can talk to her PCP and/or gyn oncologist. Has anyone else been on this combination of chemo drugs and had pain post chemo and what did you find out was the cause?

I too am on carbo & taxol
I get my infusions every 21 days and for at least 10 days following each infustion I not only feel bad and have bowel problems, but all of my joints ache and are very painful. Also, my fingers and toes are full of what feels like needles, like they are half asleep. My ankles and knees are very painful. So yes, I suspect your Mom's pain is from this toxic mix of chemo drugs. Also, I have a pain in my back between my shoulder blades that only goes away with 2 extra strenght Tylenol. So tell your Mom to hang in there. We all hope that what we are going thru will be worth it in the end.

    Joint muscle pain
    Dear Ocean1,

I had taxol combined with herceptin in my second series of IV's. I started this past Jan with pain in both shoulders. I had an MRI and my oncologist is sending me to an orthopedic doctor on Tues. The only problem. I have taken anti-inflammatories and nothing helps. I am concerned that I am experiencing arthritis syndrome. I will stop to pick up my film or disk before my appt. I will let you know what I find out.
