My Husband

in Colorectal Cancer #1
Ok people, i have a question. My husband has stage 4, and is on maintenance chemo every 3 weeks. I have noticed lately that after he has a bowel movement there are little chunks of blood left in the toilet. I had questioned him and he said there is no blood in his stool and comes out after and it's bright red. Hemorroids?? Anyone got any ideas? I'm very worried, things have been good, he has no pain and his cea is down to 0.4 . Any thoughts would help.

    First of all congrats ,it seems he is doing very well!
    How long he is been operated since! Colon resection can bleed a little if surgery is still recent, second what maintenance chemo is he having some of them cause some bowel bleeding , not important but must speak to doctor, also avastin is a powerful vasodilator ,hope is the word in English, and tends to cause hemorrhoids very often!

    To me, bright red is most likely a hemmarroid issue
    BUT !!!!!! better to be safe than sorry, and I think the CEA being so low indicates hemmarroid as well.....many blessings and hopes of a quick completely free diagnosis.....buzz

    Not to cause any undue fright for you, I do feel I have to tell you that my diagnosis came after I left a bowlful or bright red blood in the toilet. Please call the Dr. and have this checked.

    Hi Sandi, My name is Joy. My husband is stage 4 also chemo every two weeks, with avastin he' has hemriods too, we just went to the dr. today to make sure. I recommend you do the same, it's better to be safe then sorry. We almost waited to long, it became very painful the dr. can help them with that. They have to go through so much if this pain can be helped alittle its worth the trip.

    Update
    My husband is much better - he has no pain. He is due for chemo next Tuesday, so he will speak to the doctor about it then. He only has the problem a few days after chemo, so we are thinking it has something to do with that. But he will talk with her about it anyway. Thank you all for your concern.
