    Sarcoidosis

    Chris,

My sister-in-law was diagnosed five years ago with highly advanced Sarcoidosis. It is one of the only diseases that looks virtually identical to lymphoma on a CT.  It took several specialists over a year to get her a firm diagnosis.  Because I had lymphoma when she was first checked (due to her extreme shortness of breath) the family was calling my wife and I all the time, discussing test results, and I became interested in the disease.  The doctors initially believed it to in fact be lymphoma.

Both of her lungs are full of the stuff, but she does NOT have any cancer. The most intensive involvement is usually in and around the lungs and center-chest, but it can be nearly anywhere.

Because it gums up the lymph nodes, it frequently causes swelling in the extremities. She recently had an acute episode and had to go on oxygen fora bout two weeks.  The WebMD overview:

Scarcoidosis is incurable, but it is hardly ever fatal.  Some remedies minimize symptoms.  Prednisone is one of the most common treatments. Praying for you like almost everyone here,

    max

Thank you all so much, Max thanks for the article, and thanks to all who replied to my post, i am not going to give up i have come too far, i just lose patience and i can not stand the biopsy results waiting game, you would figure after all these years it would not bother me, but it really does. Max it sounds like your wife has been through so much, and i know it takes a toll on you and the family as well, i will keep her in my prayers along with all of you who are dealing with the demon, will keep you posted when the results come in.
