Daniel,
Nobody here can tell you whether you have cancer or not.
But FIVE doctors have told you that you do not.
Most people only get told that by one, or maybe two people, and that is perfectly adequate.
It's puzzling that you aren't accepting what all those highly qualified, trained people have told you, but you're online trying to make people who HAVE suffered this illness make a GUESS about your health.
It's just not possible to 'guess' like that. We've done our best to offer comfort and friendship, but it seems that isn't helping either.

Needle Biopsy
Daniel,
I hope that you find some calmness in the very near future. Allot of people have shown you concern and tried to calm your nerves. Worry and stress are part of this for all of us, yes, we have traveled that road and know how it feels.
You have asked allot of questions, and have received allot of advice, mostly the important one that is our mantra, "It's not cancer until the Doctor says so" . Well, we also have heard the stories where the Doctors miss the signs. What I am getting at is this.
To settle your fears, the Needle Biopsy should settle any doubt that you may have. Please take this step to settle your concerns. Scans tell the Doctors that there is something there.
To answer your last question about the Lymphnode being soft or hard. The Lymphnode that I discovered one morning was the size of a BB pellet and hard. I waited 2 weeks to see if it would go away. It did not, so off to my family doctor I went. He in turn sent me directly to a Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist. He in turn put me on antibiotics for 10 days. That did not change the Lymphnode, so he then did several needle Biopsies which then gave the result of cancer. The Lymphnode involved was small and he was having a hard time locating it so I had to put my finger on it as he did the Biopsy.
Again, get the Biopsy done so you have concrete information. PLease let us know when you get the results.
My Best to You and Everyone Here

I follow the rule that the only way they can say is something is canerous is by biopsy. MRI's, CT's and sonograms all just show something that could be anything.
he is an example.... i had a scan done that showed a mass..... they cut me open and found it to be scar tissue. go figure, so the mass can not be told cancerous until biopsy is taken.
another example was i had a sore in mouth, doc could see it clearly. said it looks fine and no cancer. but he says, looking at does not give results so we will do biopsy. results, it was cancerous.
many things go thru our minds as we wait for answers. with that there has to be trust in doc's. having five doctors say the same thing gives alot of trust that they are all correct. is some were saying something differently them it's time to question.
one guideline when going thru diagnosis, treatments, surgery and recovery several times was believe. believe you will be fine and you will be. believe it will not be cancer and it will not be. believe you will survive and you will survive.... i will not go the direction Daniel that you are believing.
it's not cancer until the doc says it is after a biopsy
good luch to you, prayers going out that all ends up well

but if five told me that everything was ok, I'd be inclined to believe them. As I said, my son has one on the back of his neck and they are watching it for the next 3-4 weeks. They aren't even discussing biopsy or scans because it's such a common thing in people your age (especially males for some reason). Maybe getting the biopsy would ease your mind. I'd push for that versus a scan.

Ultrasound went well this
Ultrasound went well this morning.
I will call the scan centre tomorrow and ask them to fax the results to my dr if the radiologist has written a report.
I read something online that says ultrasound and color doppler ultrasound can diffrentiate between benign and malignant lymph nodes due to the vascularity of those nodes

Hi Daniel,
Knowing the level of anxiety you have about the test, most centers process the results very quickly, usually the same day. You can call the testing center and ask if the report has been completed and depending on the facility at the rules, walk in and get a copy right there. If you need any help understanding the lingo, post here as most can help decipher it fairly well. Don

BasicallyI got the results.
Basically both lymph nodes are under 1cm (feels like 6cm to me)
Both lymph nodes show no morpholohical changes and appear normal.
The report says "highly indicative of reactive lymph nodes"
Sounds like im in the clear!

I HOPE this is finally the milestone in your journey that allows you to put the notion of cancer behind you. NOBODY should have that beast on your back unless it is the real deal but it is understandable how much just the thought of the beast can scare the best of us. Congrats! Now go on living!

A normal response would be to breathe a sigh of relief, and go back to life as usual. the fact that your first post after receiving this normal report is to question it's validity is further evidence that what you actually have is cancer phobia. Cancer phobia is generally a form of an anxiety disorder, although it may simply accompany other emotional disturbances. You have seen a bunch of doctors now, none of whom have said you have cancer. You have been tested. I suggest your future looks pretty miserable if you keep beating yourself up this way. You should next see a psychologist, be properly worked up for this, and get started on treatment. Life is, as has been suggested in the overlong thread above, too short to spend as you are here.
best regards
Pat

What I wouldn't give to be in Daniel's position right now!
There seems to be a whole discussion forum devoted to people who believe they have cancer, contrary to medical evidence:
http://www.anxietyzone.com/index.php?topic=92736.0I hope they can be of some assistance to Daniel, there are lots of helpful replies to him there.
I'm not doing this to upset you Daniel, but I honestly believe you do have a psychiatric problem here, you are young enough to seek help and DO something about it, before it ruins your life.
I see that just a few months ago, you were making virtually identical posts on this "health anxiety" board, regarding colon cancer - which you also thought had spread to your lungs, and your parents wouldn't listen and pay for a CT scan. This was after an episode of abdominal pain after drinking 8 cans of cider.

Can you understand how this could be a little difficult for people who are undergoing truly terrible pain and suffering, just to stay alive?
These are destructive, life-limiting illnesses that you seem to be almost trying to convince yourself that you have.
Last November, I had to sit down my 83 year old mother, who had not so long back lost her husband of nearly 40 years marriage, and tell her that her only daughter, me, has cancer and might not live. Then I had to tell my children. I was still trying to work, because, like most Brits, we struggle for money sometimes. I was terrified that if I died the rent would not be paid and my husband would be homeless. He had been made redundant a few weeks before my diagnosis. I was in a lot of pain, more than just "swollen nodes". Pain that literally cripples you, as well as crippling worry.
What were you doing last December 27th? Enjoying Christmas with your family? Me? I was getting down to having my 13 hour surgery, which damn near killed me. No sooner had I recovered from surgery, than I'm told the cancer had regional spread and I would need 6 weeks of radiotherapy. It was around that time that my NHS employer wrote to me stopping my sick pay. I had to beg friends and family for money to pay my rent. I even wrote to the director of our HR, and work with my union, and eventually got my sick pay reinstated. I don't suppose you've experienced this sort of problem yet, at 19.
The radiotherapy burnt all the skin off my neck, and half of my face. I had Grade 4 mucositis with necrosis inside my mouth, meaning I had no living 'skin' inside my mouth. I cannot tell you how painful this was. I would rather die than suffer that again.
And now, because of this illness, I will never feel safe again. I will always be reluctant to enjoy anything 100%, as it feels as though it could end at any time. I will never be free of hospitals, nurses, doctors, medication, tiredness, and never be free of worry about what will happen to my husband and our home if I can't work any more, or die. I may never see my granddaughters start school.
I am 42, Daniel. I thought I had a good 30 years left. Since my diagnosis, I will be lucky to have another decade.
Is this really the sort of situation you are wanting to concentrate on, Daniel? Try to have some empathy. Try to look outwards, rather than inwards. SIX medical professionals have now told you that you do not have cancer.
You said "I don't want to be the teen who dies before they turn 20". Cancer is not as romanticised as that. Cancer is painful, frightening, dirty, destructive, and it gives you a worry that never goes away.
I am speaking in firm, but emotive terms, because I want to show you the reality of this obsession. I agree with the previous poster: the problem here isn't cancer. It isn't a physical health problem at all. This obsession that you're developing will ruin your life if you don't deal with it now. Get some help.
I'm amazed - they've got a whole online community for people who have "hypochondria/health anxiety" - their term, not mine...

Daniel, you have had so many good people that have or still are fighting cancer give you the best advice you could get. Why wount you expept it. Now it is six doctors have said all the same thing, YOU DO NOT HAVE CANCER. Yet you still don't want to except that as well. Now what bothers me is you don't answer most questions you are asked, and I can only imagion why. First you had two lumps, one on the side of your neck and one in the back; next it is one on both sides of your neck, [ which now is 3] then you have two on the same side. Now First they were soft like jelly, then they are hard. You need to keep your story straight If you want to be beleaved. Most everyone here would have given anything to have been told they do not have cancer, but you want to be told you do, Why? Do you need the attention that bad. Or could it be you are sick and just having fun messing with people who do have it. You do need to seek help with your problem. I do feel sorry for your parents if they really going through this with you.
You do not have cancer, you are not going to die from this, but you do need to see a doctor for help, and I hope you do get the help you need and then you will be able to have a wonderful and healthy life you do deserve as everyone does.
Best of luck
Bill
