this seems more like a post for Facebook or Yelp. A lot of folks on this site are having trouble eating and getting through a daily routine much less recommending restaurants for vacations.
Thought it would be a change of venue if it upset u no need to post

Yes, we do post about vacations. It takes a lot more prep to get away these days. What food and medications do I need to take with me. Should I take a humidifer? How do I get all of this stuff in my bag with the rest of the potions and lotions I use. Make sure to check menu's online to see what restaurants you can eat at and hope that they will accomodate your strange request (are there any spices on this dish? Can the sauce be on the side? Can I have extra sauce? No, I don't need more bread! Not very spicy is very spicy to me.) Should I take a jacket, yeah I know it's summer but if I get cold, I get very, very cold. Some of us have posted recipes and pictures of food, encouraging to know that I will someday be able to eat that again, hopefully. And if I even think about a flight. . . I know to order a wheelchair from the airline, the only way for my low energy body to get from A to B. Don't think I could handle the pressure right now with 'stuff' leaking out of my ear and a ruptured eardrum. Couldn't resist adding to the conversation.

I am not offended. Plenty of posts about the pain, suffering and death on here. I can see why many after surviving the treatment will never again visit this board. Misery loves company. Welcome aboard the misery train, next stop is reoccurance and death, and in the meantime how about a large dose of pain and suffering.
Haven't been to Lake George.
Howver, this morning I saw my doctor, and he said "I'm afraid that you have been diagnosed with Alzheimers and Cancer." After a moment of silence, I responded "well at least I don't have cancer."

i've never heard of Lake George but i like the name. What state is it in? Is it tropical? the name makes it sound like a place i'd like to visit.

The Georgian Resort
I wouldn't say there are any "must visit" restaurants in Lake George. The beef stroganoff at The Georgian Resort was popular at my wedding reception. It's been about 6 years since I've been up there, so I'm sure it has changed a lot. Have a great trip!

Lake George
I love to read about survivors post about vacations and happy times. When I would read it months ago it gave me hope that if those folks could make it and get back to some form of normal, taking vacations with the family and just feeling good again, I loved to read about it because I knew I could get there too. Now I'm a year post treatment and feeling good. I can't wait until Robyn and Bunnymom get this behind them and Robyn can go on vacation with her husband and Bunnymom can take a nice trip with her daughter. They both will have been through hell to get there but i will be so happy to read when they are back to doing the things they love. i like reading about Guzzle on his 50 mile bike ride or one of his vacations around Europe. He's finished with treatment and back to feeling somewhat normal again and loving every second.
These are all people who have been through what was probably the toughest time in their life and have come out the other side with a new perspective and enjoying the smallest things. We all want to hear those stories as we've also been there when it was tough. I have exchanged several notes with Bunnymom, Guzzle and Robyn and others as they are in various stages along the way. I want them to know that me and many others were exactly where they were a very short time ago and to keep the faith as it will get better. I want to hear about Phrannie taking a trip, or Matt, or Joe, or any number of others who have been through what we have been through. They are my friends, we share something that few others share, and I want to know they are having fun with family and enjoying life. I sincerely care about them and how they are doing.

VACATION
Hey Sara,
I love Lake George, I worked there for three summers a thousand years ago when I was in college. The Georgian, if it is still there, always had a reputation for good food. If the La Roma resturant is still in existence, that's a place for great Italian fare. It's good to hear from you. It is great to be on the other side and be able to have these little recreational chats, and my hope is always that everyone will be able to hit the vacation trail and enjoy recreating again. I believe that a big part of our journey is all about re-creating, and re-creating that normal for us to be able to get back to recreational persuits again.

I think what Keith is saying is that vacations etc are talked about from the perspective of survivors and caregivers. It gives hope and gauges recovery. That is the point of this site. I am pleased for you that you are not one of the categories I mentioned and I dearly hope you never are. As such I also don't see what you hope to gain that you wouldn't from a social media site but its a free world. The danger is that some members may think this trivializes their experience.

couple weeks ago, as a matter of fact. Every year 4 college friends and I meet "somewhere" for a week of fun, frolic, shopping....and eating. Last year we went to Carmel, Ca.......this year we met in Sandpoint, Id. Rented a house on Lake Pend O'reille, and had ourselves a blast (as much as 5 60-some year olds can have).
Next year we're thinking Taos, NM.....Yes, there is life after cancer......just gotta grab it and run. My annual infusion of estrogen (as much as any of us have left, of course) is wonderful for us women folk!
p
We take one pic a year with weird hats....glad the shop keepers don't mind!

Well stated Keith. It's with encouragement for others that I say I am going to the lake today. Is it like it used to be, no. Do I wish it was, certainly. It's more difficult and challenging but if I can let anyone new on this site know that I can do this after SCC and two recurrances, I want to share it. Post about vacations or otherwise (weight lifting, walks, runs) encourage me. I know your intentions are good but agree that unless you have traveled in our shoes, it's hard to understand how we feel. With that being said, enjoy your vacation and be happy you did not have to make this journey.

We came from Dallas, my daughter/ son i Law from Houston and son from San Diego. All came in for my mother in law's &0th birthday. Guess what, I'M GOING TO BE A GRANDFATHER

If I knew how fun it was to be a grandparent I would have skipped the parent part! My grandchildren (6 year old twin boys and an almost 2 year old girl) have kept me going in my frequent recoveries. Enjoy your 4th!

A club fitness opened in Affton - at gravois and tesson. Used to be a grocery store. My family signed up too, and I have a trainer for the next 6 months - twice a week. After a couple of weeks I have noticed an improvement. Still have a long way to go - as I only have enough energy for 20 hours of work a week. Looking forward to how I will look and feel in December!
