And my doctor also told me surgery is definitely one of them. So, relax, give it time. I'm sure they'll follow up with blood work from time to time. You'll surely see those numbers come down!

This happened to me too. Unfortunately it continued to rise for 2+ years from 39 to 99. Had one ovary out at first and then 2 years later the last ovary and uterus (all benign). We waited a good 6 mos to retest and boy was it nerve wracking ( I'm a 3X cancer survivor). I was retested and it has been 19 for a year now. Just banking that I have a normal, high normal baseline. My docs always said an inflamation in the body could cause this number to rise, surgery being one of the reasons for inflamation. All the best to you!

Do most of your docs follow this marker and only go with symptoms prior to having any scans done?
Yes agree inflammation and or infection (such as colds, etc) can cause this to rise as well.
