Officially Two Years NED...
Like Leesa, I am saddened to see that we have so many new members in our very unpopular little club. You will all soon discover that these women are your best friends - your shoulder to cry on and strong arms to lean on when you need strength and support. No one understands us the way we understand each other.
It has been my privilege to meet three of you in person, and to hear the voices of a dozen more. I cannot tell you how much all of you have meant to me, these last 29 months.
I feel fortunate to have had two years of good health, post-chemo, and I have to say, the members of this board have been the best part of those years. I can still remember that night in September, 2009, when I first Googled "ovarian cancer discussion boards." I don't think I have ever felt more afraid, or more alone. Sadly, some of the women who gave me the greatest sense of purpose and camaraderie are no longer with us. If I ever write a book about cancer, I am going to dedicate it to Saundra, Bonnie, Linda Dorion, Nancy Kavleski, Susan Neighbors, and the others. And to Lisa J....the world's most devoted daughter, who shared that awful journey with her mom, Joan.
Here's to you, ladies. You are all brave and might warriors.
Carlene

Congratulations!
What a blessing to be in remission and to be doing so well. I am in awe of the many women on this site like you that have battled this disease for several years and have such strength to keep going. I appreciate the input you post, it's an encouragement.0 -

I hope to be around to read many more "still NED" updates. The good thing about being in the vaccine trial is the peace of mind you get from being monitored closely. Do you have any idea of how the other women in the trial are doing?0 -

I forgot to ask when I was there in January, but as of last Oct they had lost 6 due to recurrences. One of those was Annie Cris. Has she posted recently? I know she was having surgery to remove the new growth. I think that was around Sept or Oct.
Annie and I had very similar timelines, and hers came back after an initial remission of just over two years, I believe. You never achieve real peace of mind with this disease. That's the worst part of it.

Dear Carlene
YEAH!! Two years and counting... here's to dancing forever. I, also had the great priviledge to know the mighty, brave and generous warriors that were here for me when I was terrified and alone. They will forever be in my heart.
