    my Prayers are for all....
For your family. As we get older it can be tough enough without some illness or the dreaded cancer. My husband had a hard time with me during my treatments. Your Dad has been with your Mother for so many years and he is probably scared also. Men don't like to admit to needing help. They like to be the strong ones. Let them know I (we all ) will remember them with thoughts and prayers for help for both of them. Diana

Thank you all, so very much...
I'm deeply touched by your caring & kindness. More than I can possibly describe. Thank you, again.

Am certainly not an "expert"; but, have been dealing with breast cancer for 8+ years now. Knew nothing when DXed the first time. Now, know so much more - learned from my own professional medical caregivers (all BC specialists), my own experiences and research, and from all of you here.

My initial reaction to the chemo protocol recommended for my Mom was... well, in sum, it seemed exceedingly harsh - based on her DX and post-op pathology results. Have been "uncomfortable" with her choice of doctors, hospital, etc. (not specialists/specialty) since the very beginning. I've been on the phone & fax for the past two days. Finally, as of late this afternoon, convinced my Mom to seek a second opinion. (She's kinda stubborn, bless her heart.) Her port implant surgery had been scheduled for tomorrow - now cancelled.

Within the next day or two - we'll have a confirmed appointment for her 2nd opinion initial consultation, probably some time next week. She'll see my own med onc - an esteemed BC specialist. So, at least for now, chemo for my elderly Mom is also cancelled. Which is exactly where I truly hope it'll remain.

My humble, unqualified opinion? I think one of the oral meds (which one, not sure) and rads. Yep - that's what we'll hope for. For her sake. And my Dad's.

Once more - I am truly grateful for your support.

    Kind regards, Susan

Susan, I am so sorry to read about your, Mom.
Devastating to see your Mom going thru this scare --, and now, life changing diagnosis. I am positive that you have you have an abundance of information and experience that you will no doubt be your Mom's best health advocate. I pity the doctor who will not listen, and pushes you into the corner == like you have lived this movie! Watch out Doctors, and Specialist - LOL

I am so PRO .. 2nd opinions -- more so, with a Breast Cancer Specialist!!!! - I am happy to see that Mom took you gentle push, as a sign of care and concern.

Prayers and positive thoughts coming your direction. Please keep us posted on Mom's progress.

    Strength, Courage and Hope.

Glad to hear your mom is
Glad to hear your mom is getting a second opinion. I was dxed in 2009, just turned 70. Had to have a masectomy and 11 lymph nodes had cancer. 12 weeks of chemo, once a week at a reduced dose. Also had 35 rad treatments. I had a lot of infections and it wasn't easy because I had a lot of other health problems inc. heart blockage and diabetes, but I came thru it and am much better now. Sorry that your mom and dad have to go thru this but you will be her biggest cheerleader and will be so much help for her. Keeping all of you in my prayers and hoping for the best for each of you.

Susan, I just saw this post
Susan, I just saw this post and wanted to send you, your mom and dad the most positive vibes I can muster. I am thankful that your mom has you in her corner to help with the treatments as well as the decisions to be made. I'm very hopeful that IV chemo is not in her future and perhaps radiation along with one of the chemo "pills" will do the deed on the intruder. I'll be thinking about you all and checking for the outcome. Stay strong sister!! Sending (((hugs))) and love your way!
