Apricot Pits while on Chemo??
We have not asked our oncologists yet, i have ordered some for my husband but he has not started taking them yet.
I know that the cells have receptors & cannot take an overload of chemo plus vitamins & supplements, so i am looking for advice for anyone who has any expereince with this.
Thanks!

There was a post previously on here about apricot pits. You might want to type that in the search part and see what comes up. Please don't take anything without the consent of your oncologist though. Some oncologists won't let you take anything because it can interfere with te treatment. http://csn.cancer.org/node/194399 Hope this link works, I've never done it before.

Here is one of the conversations I found most useful:

I wish someone who is actually taking them, or has taken them for a length of time would comment as to how they are doing on them.0 -

he did take them, he was just making the case that it is cyanide, and can kill you.
Regrettably, John passed away earlier this year, so he cannot add anymore to the conversation.
My mind boggles that those who complain about the toxic effects of proven chemo are perfectly willing to self medicate with cyanide...0 -
I think we don't hear from themsmokeyjoe said:I wish someone who is

because they are pretty much not walking on this earth after taking the apricot seeds. Since they are being touted as a cancer "cure", people tend to take them in excess of what they should dare to. Just remember if your going to take a "seed" make sure that you look in SCIENTIFIC PEER REVIEWED JOURNALS, on what these seeds may or may not have going for them. If the article you are reading has an ADVERTISEMENT to sell the seeds, then that is NOT a scientifically written paper and should be entirely IGNORED. Scientists that write papers which are published in peer reviewed journals normally are not in the hands of the "big Pharma" as some people around here like to call it, nor are they out to make a buck.
So before embarking on a journey that could possibly have dire consequences, make sure you have all facts in hand, and don't for pete's sake overdose on the darn things. Just because a cancer patient or advertisement said it worked for them, doesn't make it so. And don't take apricot seeds for a great length of time, no reason to build up cyanide in your system and have the CSI people accusing your spouse of offing you with rat poison.
Just asking everyone to investigate PROPERLY before tossing something (like the latest fad of mythical cures that might be touted around magazines and TV)in their mouth, it's your body, take care of it.

My mind boggles that those who complain about the toxic effects of proven chemo are perfectly willing to self medicate with cyanide...
(the "john" being referred to, is not me, btw)
However........
Re:

Wow, there's a bit of stereotyping is we ever saw any....
Personally, I abhor toxic chemicals and can't understand why anyone
trying to fight cancer will subdue themselves to carcinogens like
radiation and the chemicals used in "chemical therapy (all well
known and established to be carcinogenic).
But I do agree, that ingesting cyanide might be also counterproductive.
What really boggles -my mind-, are those that seem to offhandedly
disregard and denounce a science that's been used for nearly four
thousand years for billions upon billions of humans quite successfully;
a science that continues to be used in many of the best hospitals in Asia
(and other countries as well), and lump that true science with things
like "St John's wart", Apricot pits/seed, Ionized water, etc....
There are some things that have been proven by usage, and some
things that carry absolutely no merit whatsoever. Discerning between
them is difficult, since there are other factors to consider....
There is a psychological element involved with many "remedies"
that can not be proven or denied. I read about how "being happy",
or "having a positive attitude" is so very important in the fight against
cancer... not only read it here on this board, but in documentation
written by oncologists and physicians dealing with cancer.
With that thought in mind, if a cancer patient manages to find great
solace with taking Apricot seeds daily, and feels that is what may
keep life going, why not? If it's not so toxic that it will kill the person,
why the hell not?
There's quite a bit of hypocrisy within a statement like this:
"My mind boggles that those who complain about the toxic effects
of proven chemo are perfectly willing to self medicate with cyanide..."
while the individual is taking known carcinogenic directly into the body,
yet denouncing something as safe as a -few- apricot seeds.
I'm not an advocate for all "alternatives", and haven't used any.
(And no, I don't do seeds and pits)
What I do advocate and attempt to promote, is knowledge of
a very old science that has continued to prove itself time and time
again, throughout nearly four thousand years; a science that is
continually being corroborated and substantiated by the most
modern medicine advances.
Don't lump the modalities together..... some have great merit
and great promise for saving lives.... others are hyperbole.
Best of health (with or without the pits)

Where in this thread did someone denounce TCM? Maybe I'm missing something...0
