You've probably done this...but google something like " foods for low platelets"....I did this 4 weeks ago for very low potassium....or call your oncologist's nurse....also my insurance company has an oncology nurse that I can call with any questions...United Health Care..and some chemo is probably still doing something...
Thinking of you....

Beets
Beets are loaded with iron. I usually peel the outer layer, cut them in half and then into fourths, put them in a pot with lid with a little butter, and steam cook them. They cook in about 20-25 minutes.
Hope this helps. Hugs to you.0 -

when I had my dose dense FEC treatment. Is there any particular reason they are not giving it to you regularly along with your chemo? I had my chemo on Friday and my Neulasta shot regularly on Saturday.
I took Claritin (suggested by the chemo nurses) to avoid any pain as that can happen with Neulasta and I never had any problems with it.
Hope your counts come up soon, yes, you are right, we don;t enjoy doing chemo but don;t want to interrupt it either!

Not sure if this helps but before my dx I was anemic.I had been through some stress with our neighbors.I wouldn't eat and then boom I was very anemic.I hadn't had that problem in over 15 years.I did on my own start taking a one a day vitamin with iron.Within a month my count was up to almost normal. My doctor was impressed. There were times I took 2 of those vitamins. I still didn't eat alot but I was getting some weight back and feeling better.
I didnt have chemo but I think chemo can cause this.I am sure your doctors should be able to tell you what to do.I hope things get back to normal real soon for you.

When I was in the hospital with a neutropenic fever (fever or unknown origin with very, very low white count) I was told that Neulasta would only work on those counts right after chemo. They just had me on high dose IV antibiotics for the infection of unknown origin and it was a waiting game for the WBC to come up. They did not have anything to give me to elevate the WBC. Maybe some of our health care professionals here have some advice.
Anyway, you're in my prayers to get started on treatment soon.

I don't know of anything for
I don't know of anything for the WBC, but beets(especially) and dark greens are excellent for red counts. A Kindred Spirit from the lung cancer boards ate beets religiously and never once needed a transfusion during treatment. I thought it was perhaps an old wives tale, but after research I found out that it is truly good and accurate. I wanted to boost my white count while I was on chemo and my Dr said he knew of no foods which would do that~ so I had the dreaded Neulasta. The upside was, it kept my WBC high enough for me not to miss any of my infusions.
Bless your ♥ I hope your counts get to a great level! Love you!0 -
Kari, during my chemo I had
Kari, during my chemo I had low platelets at one time and the nurse recommended raisins. I ate them almost every day...it reminded me of grade school when my mom would put those in my lunch. I can't guarantee that they helped but I'm certain they sure couldn't hurt. Good luck to you on getting your counts back up and getting back on track with your treatment. I think of you daily. Sending love and (((hugs)))!!!0 -
