Tomorrow's the day the "games" begin...:(

New treatment plan starts tomorrow.....Xeloda twice a day and radiation once a day, ...both for 6 weeks....now....aren't I going to be a real peach to live with? I feel so bad for my sweet husband....At least my kids and grands won't have to be around me on a daily basis! I see me turning into a real bi@@h.......but if that's what it takes to get through this, so be it....My friends, real friends, that is, have circled the wagons and are taking care of meals 3 days a week for the next 6 weeks..... Amazing and humbling....

So my pink sisters, that 's the plan, Stan!

Wishing all who are fighting the first, second, third time of this nasty disease better days....we can do it! Won't be easy but we can.....
Hugs, Nancy

I'll be there in spirit, Nancy
I love your attitude. Your situation stinks but you still have a sense of humor and lots of fight in you. Good for you! So glad the real friends are circling the wagons and pitching in--one less thing you have to deal with. I'm sure your husband is going to step right up to the plate and take good care of you too.

Take good care and give us an update.

Don't tell Sister Mary St. Victor on me...
When I was a little girl in Sunday school, Sister Mary St. Victor used to tell us that we were never supposed to use the words "hate" or "damn."

But I hate -- really, truly, completely HATE -- that you have to go through chemo and radiation at the same time, Nancy, and wish there was some way to damn those cancer cells to hell without putting your body through hell at the same time.

(I don't think we were supposed to use the word "hell," either, come to think of it.)

I am just a wee bit jealous of all those homecooked meals you're getting -- dare I say, I "covet" them, which is another word we Catholic girls weren't supposed to use? :-) I hope they're a bright spot for you for the next 6 weeks. If you feel up to it, give us weekly updates on what kind of yummy food you're getting!

Let us know what we can do to help you through this, Nancy -- and don't tell Sister Mary St. Victor on me!

    :-) Traci

So sorry you are going to have to do this
But thank goodness for your hubby and good friends. Those meals will sooo take some of the stress off of your hubby and you.

I wish you the best possible outcome with the very least number of side effects during this looooong 6 weeks.

Get the marker out to X out the days as they go by, I always liked noting what percent I had finished... you can do this!

Xeloda is one of my treatment options too~ I send you kick-butt strength and courage on the days you don't feel up to it!

As for your friends who are going to bring meals etc??? They are only reacting in kind to the type of friend and neighbor you obviously have always been to them. It is wonderful to see your loving-kindness being repaid when you need it most. You are blessed...as are your friends. It is a loving circle...

    6 weeks
    Nancy,
6 weeks will be over before you know it. I am sure your husband will be marking off the days with you. It's awesome that everyone will be pitching in to help out. It never ceases to amaze me how people really step up when you need them.
All the best in the weeks to come!

    Holding on to you
In thought and prayer. Wishing you the best possible outcome. You can do it Nancy. Get as much rest as you can and that will ease the B@@ch feeling. At least it has for me. When I don't get enough rest I am very difficult to be around. At least now I recognize the problem and go off to rest, sometimes I just need a good cry too. Whatever it takes, to get you through the day. Love to you. Sinee

Dear Nancy, This plan may feel like it's kicking your butt, but the deal is: You are kicking cancer's butt. A situation like yours can bring out the best in people. Your friends will feel good knowing that there is something that they can do for you and your family. Six weeks is not forever. You can do it! xoxoxoxo Lynn

    Nancy,
I so admire your strength and I know you will find it deep within to get through these next 6 weeks. So put on those pink gloves and go easy on those rad techs. We can't be in the rad room with you because we all glow enough already, but if you listen closely you can hear us chanting just outside your door.

    You are truly amazing...
    Hugs,

    Go get 'em Nancy!
Hope everything goes well today. My goodness, is this an all-day ordeal? It sounds like the medical profession will own your time for the next 6 weeks, but that also means they'll be watching you every single day.

    Sending hugs and prayers.
