Still dancing the night away, with NED .... Yahoo
" Markers are great ...everything looks good! " words to dance by ...
No need for mammo -- as I am a bilateral ' Princess ', express my concern about the 8% recurrence rate due to our skin, muscle and tissue left as a bilateral gal! Dr. M states I may have more like 2-3% -- if any, according to his previous patients - 32 years of practice, etc. If there is a recurrence it will present itself on the surface of our newly formed breast (Bambi and Barbie - in my case) -- in between our skin and implant. Dr. M insist taht all his bilateral women, perform monthly self breast examines to catch any flesh inconsistencies, or lumps.
I will continue to see Dr. M - once every 4 months for the next 2 years -- 11 months out from Herceptin, and 1 year and 5 months from Taxotere/Taxol and Carboplatin --.
No need for Pet/Cat scan or MRI .. --- I insisted! I was ....then tutored on the radiation exposure to my body from scans. Dr. M studies and his personal medical experiences indicate that recurrence of cancer is found thru blood testing, illness, change in health, or quick weight loss without dieting. Decisions ... Ugh
I wanted to share this .. as it is another take on 'after care' .. Again, all depends on each diagnosis, Oncologist, stage of bc and surgical options. Just my case.
Strength, Courage and Hope for all.

I didn't get an MRI until I went back for my 2 year mammo. I think that's the standard proceedure. Congrats on a clean report!

Hop Hop Shuffle Shuffle
Hop Hop Shuffle Shuffle Quick Quick Step - my Cousin Vicki-Sam is wearing out her dancing shoes - Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Vicki I cant express in words how happy I am for you. Girl you helped me so much when we were both in the throws of chemo. I adopted the Vicki chemo diet. Lots of apple sauce and crackers the only foods I could eat and I would have never thought of apple sauce if you had not mentioned it when I was dealing with YES, a constipation that I had never, ever experienced in my then 66 years.
We all needed to read your Great News today. Now this is uplifting to all of us. One day you and me are going to meet in person. Kudos to one special survivor.0 -

Thanks for the information. Sounds as though we're on the same track and chemo cocktail. Although I'm still going through the process, after bilateral, I only have 1 more chemo and then maybe radiation.
Wishing YOU well on your continued road to recovery. ENJOY the Dance!!! I plan to join your party, doing my Fancy Steps in a few months.
Cheers!!!

I ate my way thru 2 large family size of Lay's chips -- LOL ... oh no, not the small lunch size, or the .99 cent size you can purchase at any local gas station ..but, the large bag. I am still swollen and puffy.. Ugh!!!!
Thanks to all who also ate Lay's chips as a sign of solidarity for me, and my anxiety.

I picture you spinning and dipping with strong handsome partner! I'm so happy for you!!! Apparently Dr. M read the same books mine did...the approach to mets and reoccurance is pretty much the same.
And of course you can't eat just one...
Happy Hugs,

I know that there has been bad news on here, but I really love hearing all the good.
Keep your party going Vicki Sam, Ned had shown up to dance again!

Oh, VickiSam--how wonderful this is. Even in the midst of our sorrow over our lost angels, we can still celebrate the good news for our angels here on earth.
By the way, my onc. and surgeon are of the same opinion as yours. Neither recommends a PET scan as a follow-up. Instead, we follow the "2-week rule." If anything hurts, changes or seems unusual for more than 2 weeks--MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. I have been having 6-month follow-up breast MRIs because my breast tissue is so dense and my micro-calcs. were missed for a long time on routine mammos.
Celebrate the night away--maybe chocolate as a change from the chips!
Hugs, Renee0
