Nice Dawn, I like the Ruby Throated HB, might have to steal that one for something of my own...

I too, love your work. What kind of Nikon did you get? I have a Canon digital rebel xti 400. It's a few years old but takes great pix. I'm saving up for a macro lens because I also like extreme close-ups...inside of flowers, ant mounds, rocks. bark etc.
I'm not technically savvy but every once in awhile I get it just right!
Did you do the pastel on the computer or did you hand-color it? If you hand-colored it, would you tell me what you used? I just really like the effect.
Peace,
Laurie
P.S. You look a totally different kind of pretty in your new avatars. You're a chameleon!0 -

How wonderfully poetic, don't let Suburu find you. Great to see you enjoying life. Appreciate the oppurtunity to view your pictures. You might inspire me to get a new photo for my avatar as that one is pre diagnosis. It looks like you're moving on girl!0 -

my nikon is an L120 21x zoom. it has the macro function which i really love. that would be the button that broke on my last camera. i use it all the time.
i'm not sure what you mean about the pastel on the computer?? i drew it, and i used oil pastels (chalk like ones) and oil pastel pencils. the paper is almost like a very super fine grain sand paper.
i can tell you i never want to do bricks again. what pain! it took me 4-5 weeks working on tuesdays. about 20 hrs or so.
thank you glenna, and karegiver.0 -

More than likely the prisma colored pencils, like in the photos below... .
Those bricks would be murder, I don't like doing things like that much any more. I do like land and city scapes though, especially buildings with bright awnings and high contrast sunlight hitting on them.
Ruddy Duck - Prisma Color
Tommy Boy - Prisma Color
Night Herons - Acrylic
But definitley acrylics might be in order because of the color....
Your pastel painting is awesome, you definitely should continue with the art work... I started out with pastels, but I like the detail and I couldn't get it with them.
Do you use any kind of fixative spray on them or just mat mount them. One thing as for displaying those or anything on paper, is to keep it out of the direct sunlight as much as possible because of fading.
Best,

wow
Those are great pics Sweet! The pastel is amazing. Is that you in the pic with the framed pastel? I always pictured you looking more defiant; like your avatar with your hands on your hips. Thanks for sharing your talent. Inspires me to go create something.

YOU HAVE SOME REAL TALENT HERE
Sweets, the photos are real cool and the paintings are exquisite. You could make a living in either of these fields.
Best!!

these are so beautiful. I love the pastel with the brick. It looks to me like there is bougonvilia (sp ?) growing up the brick. Just lovely. You have some real talent, I can barely draw a straight line. And it gives you something to focus on -- always a good thing ! Also I really love your new "profile" picture... you are also beautiful! Love the haircut and color. Ingrid0 -

Your work made my day, fantastic & inspiring. I concur with the positive comments on your new avatar, that's a perfect haircut, boy are you cute!
thank you all for the compliments. you guys are no nice to say that.
adventurebob, actually, my hand is on my hip there too, but you cannot see it because i cropped it. i think that is my signature stance. people have picked on me for years for standing hand(s) on hip all the time. lol
apparently i have a little attitude behind my 5'2'' frame. maybe it comes from being the boss so long....0 -

No, I know yours are pastel, I meant that I might do the hummingbird in Prismacolor, like the links of mine that I posted, or perhaps acrylic.
I like pastels, but hey aren't mine thing...
This guy does some awesome wildlife art in pastel;
