just what I expected-hysterectomy
THIS is all due to side effects of tamoxifen. HE said Maybe he could do it vaginally but since quite enlarged most likely NOT!
I want this done asap..if he can next week-I'll be on operating table...i hate waiting..
I have been off tamox for almost 2 mths..so enough waiting..let 's get it done!

while going through cancer not very helpful or nice to me-out right rude and mean in my eyes..I will never forget..
Monday I must go to have another exam and set up surgery date..MON is a busy busy and crazy time at my job. when I am out co workers must cover me. I give advance notice and I still am told -we are busy or no one to cover you! GET your own coverage etc.
IT should not be my problem and now I am fretting about telling them I need half day monday...on top of worrying about surgery and out come etc...
I hate this...
I have been her over 10 yrs..faithful, on time and dedicated employee!

You can get this done ASAP and get it over with and onto regaining your good health..I had one at age 37....23 years ago, the incision route, bikini cut incision...first 3 days are rough but otherwise not awful, for me...it, like any abdominal surgery, takes about 6 weeks to fully recover...
Wishing you well...
Lots of cyber hugs,

I thought it would be a hysterectomy. After it is over with just think"No worries about female cancers there". I think you will opt for a total after seeing the doctor. It will take alot of stress off you.I read where so many get other female cancers after breast cancer.I am glad all my female organs are gone and I can take tamoxifin without the worries. My friend has some problems with bleeding after tamox but nothing has been found.
I did have a complication.Serious one.Bled bunches and bunches because my doctor thought since the fibroid was so big he would take it out in pieces.Well I almost bled to death from what another doctor said who stood in on my surgery. This is very rare but that doctor probably was having a hard time getting it out of my little belly.
After this operation I got the most help from my husband. The doctor told him I was to do nothing but go to the bathroom.Boy did I eat it up. Esp since that never happened before.Anyway I got 3 meals a day and wondered when the next one would come and what were we having.LOL He didn't get a chance to get dishes done before I asked. Also for a week my husband had to pick me up out of bed with me grabbing his neck.We also went for walks(doctor ordered that) at a mall. When I got tired I sat down. Then when I needed up still I had to grab husbands neck.
Wish you the best and will be thinking of you. Let us know when surgery is.Your surgery won't be like mine. This was rare. I am one that goes by "if it happens it will happen to me."

From age 35, I tried to find a surgeon....
that would remove my uterus.
I had finished with my family, had a tubal ligation, and couldn't see the sense of losing blood every month (borderline anemic all of my adult life).
I had no takers, doctors don't remove healthy organs....
When I was dx'ed with my first, rectal cancer, I saw my chance....I shall never foget my surgeon, with a sad expression, saying "You know, Kathi, it would probably be a good idea to remove it while we are doing the bowel resection. I know it a hard decision..." and I stopped him. Said "YES, PLEASE!!!!". No regrets AT ALL. Among other things, with the rectal cancer, it's one less organ for mets. I was 49 years young at the time. Sure, at first, I had 2 months of hot flushes. But now, nothing. I have to watch my bone density (but I always did...).
So, you need to reach inside yourself and see how you will be beyond the surgery. If the docs say it's a good idea, well, if you are still unsure, get a second opinion.
Hugs to a very brave warrior!

My gyno called a oncolgist-gyno and both think surgery is the best thing...MY dr offered to give me names of local Drs for 2nd opinion. I have had him for over 20 yrs and trust him...so his talk with 2nd opinion over phone is ok with me. I live in NYS and travel to Ct for him...he's great.
Thanks...

Hey, again, Denise. I am
Hey, again, Denise. I am waiting for the results of the diagnostic PAP that my gynecologist did last week after the regular pap was suspicious. We already know that I have grown endometrial polyps again (second time) since being on Tamoxifen. If my cervix is again CIN2 then she wants me to consider a hysterectomy instead of just polyp removal. Waaaaahhh. I want to keep my organs. I just can't get my head around the fact that my body is so unhealthy that it's trying to kill me with one cancer or another.
However, the relief of not having to worry about cancer in those organs would be heavenly. So, my best to you on this surgery. Get those young gentlemen to treat you like a queen afterward. You deserve it!

If the answer is yes then you are covered by FMLA. No one (not even from a smaller company) should have to find their own coverage. I'll bet the CEO gets paid whether or not he is in the hospital or recovering.0 -

Denise. Having had both breast surgery and a hysterectomy/BSO 6 weeks apart last year, my totally biased opinion is you will now have one less thing to worry about. No more D & C's, no more endometrial, cervical, or ovarian cancer worries. My endo cancer was in a polyp and had grown 1/3 of the way into the uterine wall, but it was only Grade 1.
I hope you will ask the gynecologic oncologist if he does DaVinci robotic assisted hysterectomies and if you're a candidate for one. This is what I had last July and my recovery was amazing. I had the same restrictions as with an open hysterectomy (no lifting), but I could drive and it was difficult to comprehend why I couldn't lift because I was only mildly uncomfortable and that was for maybe 3 days. You mentioned that your uterus is large and may not be able to be removed vaginally, and this would be an issue with DaVinci LAVH as well. It just doesn't hurt to ask.
Since I was postmenopausal, I've noticed absolutley nothing different with all my girl parts gone. Sometimes, tho, the thought of "am I still a woman?" will cross my mind for a fleeting moment, but only for a moment, and certainly nor very often.
Connie, I hope your tests come back normal. Before my diagnosis, I was rather proud that I still had all my parts (even tho they didn't work anymore) and had had absolutely no gynecologic problems in my 62 years, but as soon as I received my diagnosis, I wanted them all outa me ASAP.
Good luck with your surgery, Denise, and I hope all your pathology is perfectly normal. I'm happy you have a gynecologic oncologist involved.
