I lost my dad to this beast. My dad was only 56 years old. I was such a daddy's little girl it was sickly how close I was with him. This has been one heck of a year for us. Having our car break and not being able to call him to fix it, opening up and closing up our camp with out him doing it all, opening up and closing our pool. Its just crazy how much he did. Those phone calls in the morning when he was at work is what I miss the most. Just to hear his voice and just to check on my girls and see how they were doing. My 2 oldest miss their pap too. my youngest who is 15 months will never understand, but she will know of him very well. He will not EVER go forgotten.

One year in heaven,

More then I do,

Is God really there?
Why did he take you,
As I cried in despair.

I still see your face,
The day that you took,
The last breath you would take,

Why did you die,
I know God needed you,
But still I cry.

One year in heaven,
Soon I'll be there,
So wait by the gate,
Please, this do swear,
One year in heaven,
To me it is long,
But you have no pain,
From this earth you have gone.

One year in heaven,
It's so hard to move on,
I'll send you a prayer,
And sing you a song,
One year in heaven,
Life's not the same,
Since you left this world,
I'm living in a daze.

One year in heaven,
You watch from above,
Sit there and smile,
And send me your love,

You may think it's just a day,
But this world is so different,
Since God took you away

My advice to you: Stay strong!! and be there every chance you get! There will be ups and downs but dont get let down.

One Year

Thank you for sharing such a wonderful poem. March 10th was our first year. We made it girlfriend! No more firsts for us. This is your dad's 1st Anniversary in Heaven...without....cancer!!! I am sure he and my dad have met, swapped stories, and are the best of friends! They can also talk about how wonderful their daughters are! Not to be conceited, but we are Daddy's Girls, and we did all we could for our dads.
We will see them again. My dad always said..."Until we meet again my dear." How true it is! Take care of yourself, hugs to you and your family. You are never alone here.
