    Prayers
I will put you on the prayer list.

    No liver mets
I am less than 2 years diagnosed. No liver problems. I know of a man who had a liver transplant because of cancer. My friend told me and I HAD to make sure I was hearing right. She assured me it was a transplant.I didn't know they did transplants for cancer patients.

Another friend had liver, lung and brain cancer all dx at the same time.It was def a shock. She only took one dose of chemo and quit.It already took over her body.

I met a lady over a year ago who was having chemo for liver cancer.Surgery first then chemo. She is doing fine now.

Hope someone else can help you who might be going through this.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

    liver mets
Diagnosed with breast cancer 2001....had lumpectomy, chemo, radiation.10 year later..
Liver mets unknown primary...BUT they won't rule out breast cancer as the primary I am so.confused and scared....Any tips on how to stay positive and move forward...I did have liver resection Jan 2011, because there was no cancer detected elsewhere in the body, after PET scan and a few biopsies

    Hi Kim...
so sorry to hear of your diagnosis. It's a tough one. I don't have liver mets myself, but my father had them when he was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer.

I would STRONGLY encourage you to look into TheraSphere radiation therapy. If you google "Theraspheres" it will give you the link to the website that explains everything about it. It's a relatively new treatment, still in trials, but is showing great promise for people with liver cancer as well as those with lever mets. It's not available everywhere, but on their website you can find out what hospitals in which states are doing it.

My father was unable to go through with it as he had several complications and the cancer had also spread to several other areas. From what I understand, there is a small window of opportunity where the patient is able to go ahead with the treatment. I do know some people that have had the therapy and had amazing responses and results with it...as in all the liver cancer was killed!!

Your doctor may not know about it, so don't be surprised. Hope you decide to check it out. I think it would be well worth at least investigating! You really do have to be your own advocate these days! Oh, and because it's still in trials, if your a candidate, they will pay for it! :)

I do have one question out of curiosity (I'm 10 years out from my diagnosis as well)... I'm wondering what symptoms, if any, you had for them (doctors) to give you a PET scan and do a liver biopsy? I haven't had a PET scan since about a year out and my doctor won't do one unless there is a good reason (what that is I don't know). I did have a bone scan about 3 years ago because I was having pain in my back. Turns out it's "just" arthritis. Being 10 years out, one thinks you wouldn't get too worried about cancer returning as much as early on, but when you hear stories...it kinda freaks me out. I'm not "as paranoid" as I use to get, but that fear still looms in the back of one's mind. Maybe not as strongly, but I believe it will always be there.

Oh, and wondering what stage were you when you were diagnosed? I was stage II with no lymph node involvement, but went ahead and had chemo per my doctors recommendation.

Will definitely be saying a prayer for you.

    Blessings,
    Sally

    Hi Kim,
    I am having a pet

    Hi Kim,
I am having a pet scan Wednesday to see if bc has metastasized to my liver and if a nodule is growing in my right lung. I was originally diagnosed in January 2002, had a mastectomy, chemo, followed by a short stint with Tamoxefin. Then diagnosed with mets to the bones in Sept 2010, and Skin mets in Dec 2010. Biopsied both and both came back IDC. Had radiation to the hips and pelvic, so far 9 rounds of Abraxane, and will continue with it if there are no new tumors, (but MRI last week showed new tumors in the bones in my head), so hopefully they can find a new chemo.

Now as for staying positive, it is day to day... I am still scared and this week has been a b.itch, as the waiting is killing me, then the wait for the results.

Can I ask how they found the liver mets? Did you have symptoms?

I am thinking of you and sending hugs.

    mets to liver
Sally thanks for the prayer I need everyhing I can get...when I was diagnosed...stage IIb with positive lymph nodes..my liver mets was discovered when I had emergency gallbladder surgery...the surgeon discovered a spot on my liver while removing my gallblader...had a biopsy....that came back breast cancer with liver mets, but my oncologist wanted a second opinion, that came back inconclusive..after PET, CT scans, blood work I was a canidate for liver resection....segment 5 of liver was removed and pathologist report came back inconclusive....slides sent to Mayo clinic and they won't rule out breast cancer but they think it might be a bile duct cancer with mets to liver...so now its considered unknown primary, mets to liver...

    Gosh....
that's a lot to be going through! I would still look into the Theraspheres. I think it's well worth it.

I'll certainly be praying for you. It's extra scary when you have little ones. My son was only 15 months old when I was first diagnosed. And then I went on and had a "miracle" baby AFTER chemo. They're 10 and 6. I pray every day that God would let me stay around until they're at least in their early 20's.

    Is your oncologist thinking chemo?

Hang in there! Keep looking on the positive side! (I know that's easier said than done!)

    Blessings,
    Sally

Hello! Very sorry to hear that you're having new difficulties after 10 years. I have mets to the liver, bones, lymph nodes, and skin from the primary breast cancer. Are they planning any other diagnostics to determine if this is a return of your breast cancer? I would think they'd need to know in order to choose the most effective treatment.

I was diagnosed in February, 2010 - Stage IV and too extensive to warrant any surgeries. I have been through Taxol, and Taxotere along with Herceptin and Zometa. I'm currently having pretty good results from Navelbine.

Please keep us updated. Best wishes to you, stay strong and hopeful. God bless.

What symptoms did you have that made you think of liver mets?
I just had an ultra sound of abdomin (really hurt, thought she would break my ribs) and we are hoping to rule out and liver problems. I get cramps in the muscle under where my right breast used to be when I bend and strain (I am overweight and used to get these before bc but this pain can last a while and be sore) so my onc wants to make sure everything is ok. I would assume an MRI etc. will be ordered if the results come back questionable. Of course I am a wreck, it was done on Monday so I have 4 or 5 days to wait.

I looked online but see anything that was helpful about symptoms.

    Hugs, Judy :-)

    Symtoms
Hi Judy, Sorry to hear you are in so much pain. For me this all started on a Sunday. I thought I had a severe case of indigestion but only on the upper right side under my breast. Early Wednesday morning I had my husband take me to the ER. After an ultra sound I was on my way to surgery to have my gall bladder out. It was at that time the surgeon noticed the liver mets. Prior to that I did loose about 40lbs in about 6 months, but I thought it was because of stress. I thank God everyday for the gall bladder attack otherwise I might not have known until it was to late. I will keep you in my prayers and hope everything goes well. Stay strong and think positive. Please keep me posted on how your doing....Kim
