inverted nipplesea60 said:Routine mammogram.
Missed on the 1st, caught it a year later on the 2nd.
on my left breat, thought maybe due to 'the change' but went to dr and was sent for mamo and ultrasound, then core needle biopsy. Saw surgeon and he wanted an mri because it is lobular, mri shows that it hasn't spread but now something suspicious on right breast so now I have to have another biopsy on that one. I never felt any lumps, just the inverted nipple prompted me to see dr.0 -

First mammogram at 45. Microcalcification crystals with two very small tumors. Stage 0 (sum less than 2cm).0 -
Good luck with your pathSurvivor73 said:Yearly Mammo...but radiologist said I was ok, just monitor it
Yearly Mammo showed an enlarged lymph node & dense breasts...so they called me back for an ultrasound...found lump...radiologist said it was likely fibroadenomas and to follow up with another ultrasound in 6 mths...
My GP said if you really want one, I'll ok a biopsy...I said yes since I was really worried (sis with BC)
Biopsy showed suspicious of BC. Final lumpectomy confirmed mucinous BC, just did sentinal node biopsy...waiting for path results...get them next week...
Good luck with your path report next week Survivor73. Please update us!0 -
Breast self-exam. The firstbeetle25 said:Found it as a result of pain
Found it as a result of pain in my left breast was then confirmed by mammo and ultrasound
Breast self-exam. The first time I took my doctor's advice and actually did one I found a slight impression on one side. Beneath it, I could feel a lump. I had a clear mammo just 6 months prior.
I told my PCP I held him responsible as up until he insisted I started doing the self exams I was fine! LOL! I had him going for a second.0 -

My mother was thru a mammo. Mine I felt about 2 months before my yearly mammo.
A yearly mammo detected microcalcifications, which turned out to be bc.

Finally! A good story!aysemari said:Self-discovery
not my idea of it. But in the end it lead to a whole lot of
self- discovery alright!
And just for kicks for Tracy, I was in the jungle and was taken
hostage by cannibals, luckily their cook found the lump in my
breast and declared me not edible.
Hugs,
Ayse
Thank you Ayse! The least the rest of you could have done was to make up a good story about cannibals, or alien experiments, or being caught in a compromising position with a traveler from another dimension -- geez, SOMETHING!

But it took 6 months after being told a fibrous cyst that my health was failing me quickly. It wasn't till another lump grew to size of golf ball in a week that I was finally taken seriously and stage 3 was found. I actually have found all my lumps since and after this last one I am up to 5 since my treatments and so far none have come back cancerous. Most doctors don't feel them but they have shown up on altra sounds so they are there. One has to still be checking and monitoring aches and pains and get things looked at if still bothering us after a month or so. I am just having another altra sound too see about the my newest lump found.

You always have the best posts Susie! Found thru the mammo.

I had a mammo and they foundsbmly53 said:Routine mammo,
The right breast was done every 6 months due to previous microcalcifations, but this was in the left, done annually.

I had a mammo and they found something they didn't like. The core biopsy determined it was bc.

Mine was found with my annual mammogram. I was a month late since 4 months before my Breast Surgeon did a check up after my grandson accidently elbowed me.It hurt.Went to doctor. He felt nothing. The doc check was soon after the blow.Doctor mentioned we will find out more after your mammogram in June.Well I put it off feeling better since Dr didn't find anything. Then my breast starting hurting again.I made my appt for mammogram and it was found
July 2,2009. It was so tiny I wonder if I had gone in June whether it would have been found. Then maybe another year would go by.I do self exams but sometimes get off track with them.
Having had benign tumors since 20 I have been checked for over 44 years annually by my breast surgeon. Even had mammograms at a younger age. That was when they had those terrible ones where a metal plate came down and then a pic was taken.Oh and one time they left the room and the plate came down real hard on me.I about passed out and 3 came in to catch me.0 -

I thought it was anyway~ thought maybe it was hormones~I had breast fed all 4 of my babies~breast cancer did not run in my family~had a mammo that confirmed something suspicious~then a core needle biopsy.0 -

I have always had trouble with my left breast since I was 20.Tumors/cysts.Mammograms were always OK till July of 2009.But one thing with my right breast is I had a inverted nipple 9 years ago.I flipped out thinking now my right breast is bad.I've had mammograms since and the right breast with the inverted nipple is fine. Amazing to me.That is one sympton you are told to look out for.But I am lucky to have no problem with the inverted nipple for now.0 -

Found it myself
I found my lump breastfeeding on the 2nd of March. Thought clogged milk duct, made an apt. Couldn't get me in for 2 weeks.
Turned 33 on the 9th, starting feeling nauseous so went to Urgent Care cause really thought it was mastitis. Ultra & mammo last Frid. Biopsy on Mon. Prelims are DCIS calcifications and we are still waiting for the 4cm tumor typing.
So...although my found lump myself you could say that my insanity started when my husband & I decided that 4 kids 6 and under was a good idea! What's cancer compared to that??0
