I've had a bilateral
I've had a bilateral mastectomy with nodes taken on the left side. I've been told not to have my blood pressure taken on that side. Also no labs. But it is OK to have labs and blood pressure taken on my right arm because no lymph nodes were taken from that side. Of course, it's always best to check with your caregiver. xoxoxoxo Lynn -

Have her ask her doctor. I don't know if she should have BP taken in either arm.

Thank you all for the help. She ask me and I guess I had not thought of it with a bilateral. I knew I could not check BP or do labs on the side they removed nodes on. She had someone check it on her ankle area and is going to ask Dr. about it tomorrow when she sees him. Thanks again. God Bless

I am a maverick. I have both done on both arms. I ask them to pump the arm up manually and not go too high. (my blood pressure is low) no choice for blood draws although they try to use the oldest arm. having said this, it is not a good arm for drawing because the veins on worse on that side. so whatever works. BP in the leg can run higher, so be aware of that. I treat any cuts I receive right away, I also wear gloves doing any yard work, and am careful of lifting. I do not carry packages or pocketbooks with my arm hanging down. and wear sleeves on airplanes to prevent lymphedema. -
