Welcome to the site and to the "family" here. My husband was also diagnosed with stage IV a little over a year ago and has had chemo, radiation, heart surgery, colon surgery, liver resection and is currently getting more chemo. You would never know it to look at him that he has been through so much. You'll have triumphs and setbacks, and the folks here will celebrate with you over your triumphs and cry with you over the setbacks and they will guide you with advise and lots of years of collective wisdom. Oh, and they will make you laugh too. Something you're going to need and never would expect to get so much of in a place like this. So hang in there Jennifer. It sounds like your husband is pretty laid back and positive guy. We're here for you.
(hugs)
April
Hi April! Sounds just like us other than the heart surgery. I am so happy i have found this site, it helps ease the mind of a lot of unknowns! I hope we have more triumphs than setbacks, but i know we will get thru them together! Thank you for your kind words of encouragement!

love and hope
hi mcgiverenfaith
im happy u found a hospital and drs who are giving you hope. i wish you all the best. my dad was also dx with stage 4 clecteral cancer on the 22nd dec 2010. he was told that liver resection was not possible and is starting chemo prob tomoro. im so happy they are able to resect ur husbands liver. was he initially told that it was not rescetable? my dad also has mets (small, i think, as they havent given it much importance) in his lung.my dad is symptom free and was only diagnosed after a routine blood test because he has diabetes. initially my dad was given very little hope by his doctor but since then he has been to what has been "our piece of heaven" in pamplona spain. they say that they have treated many stage 4 patients who are still fighting years after they have been given weeks or months. never loose hope. ill be praying for u and ur family xx0 -

Matt had extensive
Hello!
Matt had extensive disease in his liver & doctor told us in June 2010 that he would mote than likely not be eligible for a resection. But look at us 5 months down the road & he did indeed have liver resection. He had such a great response to Chemotherapy that he went from no chance of surgery to having surgery! They removed 8 lesions & did an ablation on 1 tumor, bc it was so close to his middle vein. So, chemotherapy has been a wonder drug for us! So, we have learned that the drs dont always know everything, haha! We have great hope that he will beat this & be an inspiration to others who are going thru cancer. Will keep your dad in my prayers & never give up HOPE!0 -

Just jumping into say welcome to the board. Sounds like you have had excellent treatment to date so just stay the course. Sounds like your hubby is doing very well after treatment and surgery so pat yourself on the back for I'm sure you had a little something to do with that. Come back and let us know what the next steps will be.

We are not only multi -cultural here we are multi national. Sorry you have to be here but given the circumstances there is no better place to be. I was operated in in Jan 98 for stage 3 colon ca into six nodes, did a year of chemo and have been ca free ever since. Just approaching the end of year 13 then into 14 . 13 was a nervous year but I had a scope in nov and won't need another for three years. By best wishes for a swift resolution to your problem and a long and ca free life.Ron.
Wow! Congratulations on your recovery & cancer free life! Great inspiration!!!!!0 -

And now after Chemo, Radiation, APR surgery and chemo now again I am on the home strech to recovery. Welcome to the survivors site that has helped me so much in the last few months. I only started paying attention here after my surgery 3 months ago but wish I chimed in a little sooner. I am happy you finally spoke up and will keep you both in my prayers.
