No history
None here. As a matter of fact, after I was diagnosed, I read that 80% of breast cancer patients have no family history! A statistic I wish I had known because I let the lump go a few months thinking it was just a cyst and would go away. Because "I have no history." "I'm very healthy otherwise." and "My family lives to very old ages." I now know...never, ever wait and I am passing this advice on to everyone who says they are waiting!0 -

No Known Family History
I have no known family history. However, my maternal grandmother died of stomach cancer, and my mother always wondered whether that might have begun as breast cancer and moved to the stomach. She died in 1950-1951, when breast cancer wasn't really known.
On my maternal side, there is also a history of skin cancer, so I wear moisturizer with sun screen EVERY DAY, rain or shine, and I've taught my sons to use sun screen daily.
Hope you all have blessed holidays that bring you peace and love.

In fact, the only cancer I know of in my family was my maternal grandfather who had either prostate or bladder cancer.

no history
I have heard that 80% or so of BC cases have no family history. My friend who completed BC treatment last year, had no family history. However I wonder how many people really know their medical history.. going back 3 or 4 generations.. I don't. Also, I am wondering if the type of cancer really matters. My mother passed away in June 09 with uterine cancer age 79. My grandfather (who she bore a strong resemblance to) passed away from prostate cancer at age 78. Another uncle has prostate cancer and my Aunt remembers a great aunt or great grandmother having some type of cancer.. they thought it was stomach back then but very likely ovarian or uterine that spread.. So I think no family history gives a lot of women a false sense of security..0 -

no family history here. I am the first and happy that my daughter just may be spared from this horrible experience since it isn't in the family.0 -

I play the lotto lol
No family history. Aunt had lymphoma and my uncle has lymphoma and leukemia. He was diagnosised 2 weeks after me. Dont know anything about dads side since he left when I was around 2.
I was diagnosised May 09 with stage 3c, her2, er and pr positive and 18/20 nodes positive. BRCA gene neg.
I think everyone must have a cancer cell waiting for the right moment to destroy our lives. Katz0 -
None here
No family history of any kind of cancer, so BC was not even on my radar. Never read articles in women's magazines b/c I figured since I didn't have a family history, I had nothing to worry about (heart disease and stroke,on the other hand,I worried about since that is strong in my family history). I too was very surprised to learn that 80-85% of BC does not have a family history.

No family history here but
No family history here but in a very strange twist of fate, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer two months after I was. I have 2 young daughters and I pray to God we find a cure before they get old enough to have to worry about it...
*hugs*

I'm the first for any cancer
I'm the first for any cancer on either side and I also had no known risk factors.0 -
NO family history here either
Hello, I have NO one in my family that had breast cancer either. There are other cancer's in my family like liver and I think that's it. I was told by my doctor that they are finding that you don't have to have a history of breast cancer in your family to get it. They think it's a hormonal thing. Hmmmmm. Everything is blamed on hormones.0
