lumpectomy
Wishing you well tomorrow on your surgery! I am home recovering from my lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy done on Monday. All went well and I am also anxious about the pathology report! Don't forget to have your sports bras ready, I find it is easier to wear one than not.
All the best. Let us know how you are doing.

Hope all goes well, and you are soon on the mend. Also, keeping fingers crossed on path reports on both of you. This ordeal is one that makes us all humble. Just don't be so humble that you don't fight like the dickens....this is the beginning, and all will be well. Hugs, Judy0 -

I had what they call a partial mastectomy. It is a lumpectomy with more tissue than normal taken. It was no big deal and my breast looks great. I only missed 5 days of work and took pain pills for 1 day. They sent me home with instructions to ice it and rest. I had only one node removed and from what I have read it is more complicated if they take more nodes. I'll be thinking of you and wishing you a quick recovery.

I had my lumpectomy 10 mos. ago. The surgery was fine and I had the sentinel node check and the recovery was quite quick. I was fortunate that I had no node involvement and I'm sure yours will be fine. My breast that was operated on and also radiated "the old fashioned" way looks much better than my original. It doesn't sag. Anyway, best wishes and hope for your best outcome.0 -

Wishing you well! I had my lumpectomy with sentinel node biopspy as well in September...now getting chemo. 5 more treatments and hoping I can make it through!
Prayers are with you!
What's a mammosite? I hope everything goes well tomorrow.
Like Rosann, I had what they called a partial mastectomy and oncoplasty because the breast that had the cancer (right) was larger than the other breast(left) and the surgeon did a fabulous job of making the right breast the same size as the left. And that's the only good thing that came out of this experience. For the first time since I've had breasts (50 years), the plackets on shirts and blouses now go straight down the middle and necklaces hang straight. Everyone tells me they never noticed the difference in size, but I always did.
Viv2010, hang in there with the chemo. Remember, it's not fun, but doable, and not forever.

My lumpectomy in Jan
I will be having my lumpectomy in January and will have some nodes removed also. I would love it if you guys could kind of outline the procedure for me. I have to admit I am a little scared. I am almost done with chemo...0 -

You are in my prayers. Praying for a good pathology; no complications and quick recovery. "No Nodes!"0 -
You'll be fine! About the
You'll be fine! About the only thing with the sentinel node biopsy that was of concern to me is that the back of my arm was numb for quite some time (maybe 4-5 months). But, gradually the numbness went away and now I have total feeling back in it and it's as good as new!
The surgeon did mention that I had a nerve in an unexpected place so perhaps that's why my arm was numb in any case it's not numb anywhere whatsoever now.0 -
