My Husband doesn't like thej3rey said:Thanks all
Once again, you are all a wealth of information and inspiration. Thank you for sharing.
We have tried aquaphor and he doesn't like the 'greasy' way it makes him feel. I have tried mixing the aquaphor and aloe together as well. Will ask the doc tomorrow about the Radiaplex, Biafine, and Silvadene.
Thanks,
Jen
My Husband doesn't like the greasy also. He's burns are so bad they postponed radition they have him on neosproin covered with destin for 5 days and then aquaphor covered with destin when he starts radition again does this make any sense to anyone. Creams to use
Lather on Aquaphor and alternate with Aloe cream. Pure aloe not chemical additives. Must weear at least an SPF 30 sunscreen. Try California baby ( No chemicals in it ).
He must do this ever night religiously.
My sister is undergoing radiation and it has really helped.
Much success to you.

Hi,
I am sorry you and your mom are going through this. I know how hard it is to see a parent having to deal with this. My dad just finished treatment for tongue cancer and it has been very stressful for me. He dad's biggest problem was radiation burns on the inside of his throat and tongue. He made it through treatment better then most do. I will pray for your mom and if you ever want to talk, just send me a private message by cliking on Pumakitty.
Prayers.
Kathy
Is your dad following a strict regismnt of moutcare. With baking soda, slat ad water. My sister has and has no problems so far. Look into gettting TENDEROL DROPS if you can.
Much Luck.

Radiation burn cream
During and after radiation, my neck was badly burned. I had cracks and pink showing through. My doctor prescribed SSD (1% Silver Sulfadiazine Cream) and my burns were healed about a week after radiation and the cream was soothing during treatment. Since the SSD was generic, the prescription cost was minimal and I used a lot of it.0 -

Hi! My mom was burnt severely from the inside out from radiation. She used a cream by Estee Lauder during all 22 treatments and it was a MIRACLE CREAM. We had tried aquafor etc., but when she lathered this stuff on her neck/face/chest before and after radiation, it clinically helped her. We even tried to contact Estee Lauder to let them know to help others with radiation treatments know about this cream. It truly made a difference. She is asleep at the moment, but when she wakes up either later tonight or tomorrow I will reply with the official cream name. God bless and hang in there. Radiation burn was one of the most painful issues she experienced, literally it burnt her from the inside out, but this cream helped her tremendously. Let you know soon.Estee L. said they were clueless as to which cream, I am getting samples of their repair serum will let all know, Aquaphor, Aloe not working for me. I am using Silvidine, a script, so far best but still not good enough. I took a week of, but still think the last two will do me in. I'm close to 3rd degree burns, so much pain morphine is not cutting it. lidocaine, script also burnt the heck out of me. Take care all, so glad I found this site

Aquaphor. I bought a small
Aquaphor. I bought a small tube that I always had in my pocket and I applied a thin coat within 15 minutes of each treatment. It kept me clear until week 7. It is greasy, but you don't have to apply it very thick. Also, each dab that I applied I worked between my thumb and finger first, made it much thinner and easier to spread.

Radiaplex cream
I used Radiaplex cream until the burns began to leak and open up, then switched to Aquaphor and SSD cream. The Aquaphor helps the burn contain its mosture. A lot of moisture and fluid is lost through evaporation. Good Luck. It will pass.

Radiation burn on nostril for basal cell.
Could anybody suggest a safe and effective cream to reduce the redness and swelling on my hose or the entire nostral area from radiation therapy?
I'm only slightly more than halfway into the treatment but the radiated area is causing me great concern. My doctor prescribed SSD 1% cream but
should I be worried about potential side affects from it?
Thank you.

Tonig,
Welcome to the H&N forum.
Some members have reported bad reaction to SSD 1%, but I am not one of them. I do not know how well it will work for your application, but on my neck it was great!

Hi all,
Hi all,
I used organic coconut oil from Costco. My skin became vey dark, like a like a very dark suntan. Then dead dark skin layer came out. I had only very small leaky burn (about 1 cm). I dıd not use the coconut oıl on this small part to avoid infection risk. My onkologist was very keen on not to applying any oil or cream before the radiotherapy sesions. I .Only use the coconut oil after the treatment sessions. Wish you all the best.

I used Calendula every four
I used Calendula every four hours, then Aquaphor at night. I got very red, but never had a lesion or scab, and my skin returned to normal 2-3 weeks after completing radiation. Both of these can be purchased at the local drug store.

My bf has a trach and docs sd
My bf has a trach and docs sd his skin would be blistering and open sores during treatment. I sd no way. When it started to redden, We used calendula extract, let that soak in, 98% aloe, let that soak in and then organic coconut oil. Did this routine 4x day. Not a blister, very little redness. Docs were so impressed they asked for pics of products and routine so worth the little work
