    So sorry
So sorry this is happening to you......I have been told by 3 specialists' that even with a mastectomy, it is impossible to remove ALL breast tissue...that our breast tissue extends under the arm to where it meets your back......I was radiated under my arm all the way to my back for that reason, I had a lumpectomy....
    I wish you well
    Peace be with you

I am glad you wrote that
I am glad you wrote that MAJW. I think many that have a mastectomy aren't told that and they should be aware that they still have breast tissue. I would be shocked if it came back after only a year. I feel so sorry for you.

    Wow - scary
This is a super scary thought - to have it come back in the nodes after all of the treatments. This is what we all fear might happen... I've just finished up treatments 3 months ago and remaining positive is so important - so of course, we all squash those nagging fears of recurrence as soon as they pop up into our heads. I guess your situation again warns us all to be vigilant with our health and be thankful for every day that we're given - and for the fine medical community out there that are moving further along with research toward finding a cure! Please keep us posted on what you find out. My prayers are with you.

Sorry you have bad news today too. I just passed my 5 year anniversary, and found out today that the lump my dr found in my affected breast is cancer. I had a lumpectomy 5 years ago, radiation and chemo. I am triple negative. Now I have to get the scans and if they are ok I gotta have a mastectomy. I am also losing my mind, and really hate to tell my grown up children. They have suffered the last five years worrying, and just when we thought we were safe, this happens. I would rather have had a mastectomy the first time.
So you and I can share our fears and gather the strength we are going to need to get through this again.

    Courage
Sending great big hugs of courage to all the sisters, especially Dewill and Susan! I guess we all learn that the beast is constantly changing and evolving, that why its so tricky and evasive. We all want to get to the place where this is behind us, but remember, when the beast is behind you, you don't see it sneaking up on you. We all got BC and we have to keep the beast out front where we can keep an eye on it! Stay vigilant and stay strong.

    That Happen To ME
My first recurrence was a 2.4 cm tumor in the axilla. I had a mastectomy, a lymph node dissection, chemotherapy and tamoxifen. I kept having cellulitis over a simple paper cut. After 3 bad bouts of cellulitis, the tumor finally sang to me by sucking in two nerves. That is how it was found. I had radiation and then went on to live very well for many years.

The cancer is back this time in the lungs and pleura and I am doing fine, 2 years after that diagnose. I am living with metastasis. I still work and carry on with life.

You will get through this ok.

What might have happen is the cancer was to small at the time of your mastectomy. It was probably there all the time. Hopefully the radiation will take care of your cancer this time.

    Best wishes,

    SIROD

    Sorry
Sorry this has happend to you. That's the worst part of cancer, sitting on pins and needles. Waiting wondering. Getting ready to celebrate 1 yr since the beast was cut of my chest and axcilla. I HAD IDC stage3c, HER pos., ER and PR pos. and 18/20 pos. lymph nodes. Pray that don't find a new place to land, but if it does, my saying is: Been there, done that, and I'll win again. Good luck with your new, but old fight again. Prayer and positive energy for you and the family. Katz

    I'm so sorry
I'm so sorry this is happening. It scares me a bit. I had bilateral mastectomies last week and I'm still healing. Dx of clean margins and no Sentinel lymph node involvement my dr said he didn't think I needed any radiation or chemo. My daughter asked how do they test me in the future to see if any cancer has come back. I guess I didn't realize it could still come back in the lymph nodes. Praying for you.....
