Crud! I hate to hear when my bc sisters are having a tough time with chemo. If it's any consolation, in addition to the yeast infection, I was also extremely constipated after my first chemo (they warned me about diarrhea, so I was shocked to say the least). Hang in there, it will get better!0 -
Hi, Waffle, and welcome. I
Hi, Waffle, and welcome. I would recommend that you contact your onc because of the rash. I believe that depending on the type of chemo cocktail you take, you can get sores in your mouth. I have seen a recipe for a mouth rinse that some ladies have used and had success with it. I'll try to locate that and bump it up for you. But, still contact your onc because you may be having an allergic reaction to one of the meds. Let us know what you do. Good luck!0 -

Hey
Sorry to hear this waffle8 I am also 5 days out from my 1st chemo taking Taxotere Cytoxan. I have done pretty well had some diahrea, not to bad though. They told me if I had mouth sores to use 1/2 tsp. of salt in 8ozs. of warm water to rinse my mouth every 2 hrs, for about 1 min. or baking soda in water. Hope this helps some. Your Onc. should be able to give you something different to help with the nausea next time. Best of luck and God Bless

Itchy rash
I had extreme itchies throughout all of my treatment (chemo and rads). My body had a systemic yeast infection (due to all the antibiotics we're on, compromised immune system, etc). It was suggested by my PCP to eat Activia everyday and take Acidophilus also. It helps clean up any bad bacteria in your system and helps to support your digestive tract. After doing that for awhile, I am now itch free and no more digestive problems.
Good luck with the rest of your chemo! You can do it!0 -

Rinse mouth with warm water and baking soda, it does help. Suck on popcicles or frozen yogurts are good. Also use Benadylre(sp) anti itch cream.0 -

So sorry that you are having all of these side effects. You should call your oncologist anytime you start having any problems. Praying you get relief soon.

HUGS!
Was it Mama G who sucked on ice chips during chemo? and helped alleviate mouth sores? I had yeast on my tongue so took nystatin for that. nowhere else thank goodness as ihad other problems "down there" lots of issues with constipation/diahrea. if you take alot of zofran you may ndd a stool softener. also sometimes all chemo sessions are not the same, so the next one may be better.0 -

learning from experience...
My second treatment was yesterday and when discussing with my onco what side affects I had after the first treatment I mentioned that my entire mouth and tongue turned white and thought that was from cell renewal...he said that I should have called- it was thrush, (yeast infection) and a script for Diflucan would have cleared that up in a couple of days. Learned that I will call him if anything different that I am not sure about...My only really bad days were 3 & 4. Day 7 was like a natural high because felt like myself again. REally think the key is to not rest too much. Felt better if I took as many walks a day as I cold handle. I rinsed my mouth out with baking soda and water a couple times a day. Also experimented with diferent flavors of hot tea...everything tasted so YUCK! Used to love my diet coke and finally on day 8 it tasted good again!
Call your doctor.....the yeast thing is probably very fixable.0 -

I did it during the administering of the RED devil and it helped a LOT!!! Even during TAXOL it seemed to help. If nothing else, you're getting water into your body when it needs it most.0 -
