Hey ladies just wanted to say I hope everyone had an amaizing holiday! I am having my bi-later mast/recon on Monday morning and I am super nervous! I would just looooooove to have some positive vibes and prayers thrown in my direction, because it always helps. Also, if anyone has and tips or advice for me that will help out, I would be glad to hear it...

    Hi Mandy,

    I am new to this site. I was just dx 2 weeks ago with insti ductal carcinoma. Already had surgery a week ago. I know how you feel awaiting surgery. I was so nervous that I worked myself up to high anxiety. When I come to this site and read comments from all the wonderful caring people here I get a sense of calmness and determination and it gives me the strength to carry on as I must. I will pray that you have a successful surgery and recover quickly. Best wishes for a happy and healthy new year. Hugs to you.

I was so nervous that I worked myself up to high anxiety. When I come to this site and read comments from all the wonderful caring people here I get a sense of calmness and determination and it gives me the strength to carry on as I must.     The waiting is the hardest
    The waiting is the hardest part. Try to stay busy. Maybe get things ready like someone said if you live alone move everything you might need within easy reach. Button down shirts to wear. Sending good thoughts and hugs your way. Don't worry.

    I had my surgery on Dec 5 and were it not for an unforeseen setback I would be fine by now..

    Some important things... if your bed is high take it off the slats and let the mattress just lay on the floor. My bed was high and I knew from previous surgeries that I would have trouble if we didn't do this... now it is much easier to get in and out of...

    Also, take your pain meds, don't try to get off them before its time. You will get constipated but you can take Miralax or Senekort to help with this problem..

    For me the biggest pain was the drains.. but the time will go quickly and before you know it they will be out.

    I hope you have someone to help you b/c you will need some assistance.. Oh yeah, large button down or zipper shirts/jackets/pjs.

    I know you will be fine... let us know how it goes..

    Keep a positive attitude and I will be praying for your swift recovery..

    Hi, Mandi.
    I hope everything goes well for your surgery I will be having the same thing 8 days after you. I agree that the waiting is the hardest part. I got a prescription for Xanax from my primary care physician, and every once in awhile I take one, and it seems to help.

    Looking forward to your posts after you're feeling well again!

    Daddy God, I thank you that you saturate Mandi with Your Peace, calm her nervousness and be the hands of the doctors as she goes into this surgery Monday. Let her know she has lots of people lifting her up. In Jesus precious name I pray Amen.

    Mandi, Just try to keep focused on the thnigs that make you smile and this will be over with before you know it.

    You have come to the right place for positive vibes and prayers. I am not sure if you need lymph nodes removed, but that was the most painful for me, i had 11 removed. Make sure that you have something to hold your drains. They did not have anything for me at the hospital and i was unable to get out and get them. I heard that they sell a cami with holds for the drains, maybe on this we site. Make sure you rest and do not lift anything at all. Take care, I will keep you in my prayer.

    Hey Mandy
    I just had my left breast removed and TRAM flap reconstruction 2 weeks ago. Came through it pretty good. Just a little snafu's but easy to fix. Just do what the Dr. says and get up and walk as soon as you can and keep walking. I just got back from the ER because I got a blood clot in my calf because I wasn't getting around too well. I will start walking a lot as soon as this thing is gone. I had great surgeons and am very pleased at how things went. Good luck.

    I am right behind you. I see my surgeon on Monday the 4th to set the date for my surgery!! You will be in my prayers and maybe you can give me some good tips after your surgery.

    Hi Mandi,

    What an outpouring of support and friendship! You'll do just fine with your surgery.

    I had a double mastectomy mid November. I don't have plans for reconstruction. My surgery went well and the Cancer Society has been wonderful with support and information. As soon as I was able I was up walking the corridors of the hospital and taking walks outside when I got home. It made me feel empowered and strong to take walks and breathe deeply.

    Now that chemo has started and winter has set in here in Maine, I can't take those walks but the strength is still there.

    I think we all can share the comfort of the Lord in our fight. My prayers for your strength during your surgery and recovery!

    . . . it speaks volumes about you. You will make it through this with flying colors, and will strike that sassy pose again before you know it.

    Advice . . . hmmm. Do the physical therapy, take the pain meds, take the stool softener. You will look quite different naked, but if that bothers you, put a bra on and check out your new self in the mirror. You'll look great.

    Looks like you've already received a lot of great tips and I can't think of any more to add, but I will be sendind positive vibes, thoughts, and prayers your way for a very successful surgery on Monday.

    My own surgery was different (lumpectomy). And there's already a lot of good info, tips and advice already here for you...
