The complete guideIamHope said:Hi ppurdin. The only thing
Hi ppurdin. The only thing that helped for me is to get information. The saying "Knowledge is Power", is not just a stupid cliche. Every single resource I have read on Cancer says the same thing. People who take an active role in their therapy recover the fastest and the best. All of us has lost some control of our lives going through this. Having knowledge, knowing what is going to happen, why and when is the only thing that kept me sane and gave me a sense of control. I would like to recommend the following book. It has become my Bible, my diary and my reference for all things breast cancer related: Breast Cancer - The Complete Guide. ISBN: 0-553-38248-9
I urge you to find out as much as posible about this disease. It will give you a sense of control, and you will feel more calm.

I started my care off through this program, I PROMISE I will call tomorrow and find out the name of it, they paid for everything until I got my medi-cal going. Meanwhile while know that we are with you.
Are you also having a re-incission? If so my doctor told me that after they do mine on Thursday that my breast and original incission will look the same, I'm hoping that all goes as planned and that she's right. Believe I know that it's scary, I'm excactly were you are at, but believe me when I say that we will get through this. The warriors on this site are a testemony that!!!!!!(BTW Thank you all)
I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers to night.

One step closer
Ppurdin...came late to the thread but so glad to hear that you are on the other side of the surgery and moving forward down the path. There are so many fabulous women who have blazed the trail for you on these threads. Fear of the unknown is so very real and seldom conquered alone. You may feel that you are crying alone...but believe me you have found a font of instant sisters wishing you strength. Sending you thoughts of joyfilled days for your future.

I opened a knew thread for you and stubbrn, so please check out and let know how everything went !!!!!!
I found out this program is state wide in California, but if your some where else, then try calling any local general care clinic in your area and ask if they have anything like this in the state you're in, there has to be something out there to help.
So far I've received great care, and have even kept the Dr's that I was referred to by them. They used the top rated hopital for BC and other cancers in the area for imaging, prevention, and treatment. Which is Scipps/Mercy in San Diego.
So after my medi-cal insurance kicked in I decide to stay, with their doctors. I even looked them up on-line and they were no quacks. Anytime, I call with questions, my surgeon either answers the phone or calls me back personally, if she is in surgury or something.
I really hope you can find the same help, I've found, so here's the info.
Free medical sevices to those who qualify, for women it's called
Cancer Detection Program: Every Woman Counts..
... it's a State Funded Program in California....
It will pay for detection and treatments of BC and Ovarian Cancer

Marcia also posted some websites. I'm not sure on what thread though, bvut if you have time in the next few days, try to find them.
So glad you're finally posting.
when you're up to it let us know how it all went okay

I will pray that your lymph nodes will be negative, clean of cancer....I am new to this as well, had some complications, but I understand.

ppurdin,
I'm late to the thread also, but have been thinking of you. So glad to hear it's behind you and am praying for you to have clean nodes, clear margins and comfortable healing. Please let us know, when you are able, your results.
