    the few
There are a few out there, who think they have the market on on insensative remarks being made to them. I TOO have experienceed this. No, I don't a diagnosis and some people think that "oh he is blowing this all out of proportion..." think about if this were YOUR man going thru this???? Today is MY mammogram. FINALLY! I still pray it isn't and I will be so glad to find out JUST what it is... no matter what just tell me!

    Mike,
thinking about you on this day-it's finally here!

    Me Too
I admire your restraint. I had to do that yesterday. We were going to the dollar store and then out to dinner and when I walked out the door my Mom said - "you forgot your wig". I said "no I didn't" and kept walking, even though her face showed her feelings. Then my neighbor came up on the deck and called her friends over to show them that I was the one who just finished the cancer treatments and didn't I look just great? I don't feel great, I just want to lay down in the dark bedroom and sleep for about a month. She went on that I never got that "cancer face", you know, pale, with the dark circles under her eyes. I just stood there with this half grin, knowing if I did anything, it would be to bust out laughing. This from a woman whose own father died of cancer. People don't understand, and even if they do, they just don't think. Kudo's to you for keeping it in, and kudo's to all of us for being the strong women (and men) we are!

    They said What???!!!
I started making a list entitled "They said What?!?!?" When i was first diagnosed. I was floored and amazed at the responses and statements that people would say to me. Two of my favorite: My sister, we are not close, emailed my mother and basically said..."boy, this is great news for you and me now huh mom?"....uh, i guess i should be sorry??? and the other..."i know i'll have to get breast cancer before i can get new boobs! You're so lucky" Is she kidding me???????? I would rather have them hang to my knees and have to tie them in knots to look decent in bras before going through this!
I got so tired of people telling me how strong i was. Strong...hmmm, could you define that for me please? I wanted so desperately to find a lap i could crawl up in and be rocked like a baby so many times. Strong......hmmmm.

Again...i go back to my advice, the tried and true, never failing response.....

    "That's interesting"

    Always works

    Say again...
"I'll have to get breast cancer before I can get new boobs"...
    That's a new one!!
Like you can order up cancer when it's convenient-that's too much!
