Stress reduction.. Hope I don't regret this...
I need to be able to feel like I have some control of everything going on, and this I can at least control... I eliminate the stress where I can, even if it is sacrificing "my dream".. it won't be forever.. and before I know it I will be back at it full time. So.. see.. I don't just sit around in it... if I can I do something about it.. just wish I could do something about "everything else".
Hope I'm making the right decision...well at least for me.. for now.. it's right.
Hugs, Love & Friendship...

Taleena-I think you made a good decision...
Right now, you have enough on your plate. I think I told you that I have been taking only one class at time since my dx. I will be in college a long time at this rate, but that's okay. In the fall, for the first time, I have enrolled in two classes, but I am still considering the workload and may drop down to one again.
You're younger than me, by at least ten years (I;m making a point here :0), so don't feel like you need to rush through this phase of your life. You're not "sacrificing your dream," you're being practical. You want to do the best you can in your academic pursuits, that's more imporatant than getting it done on a timeline.
I know others in my progam who started when I did and have already graduated, some will graduate this Fall. I am at least 2 years behind their schedule. At first, I was beating myself up for it. Now, I accept it as part of how my life has changed. This is not necessarily a bad thing (this change), but it is reality.
You will realize your dream and when you do, we will be right there with you! I wonder how one throws cyber confetti? Well, I'm sure we'll find some way to figure that one out prior to your momentuous graduation! It'll be here before you know it!

that is just what i would do too, not too much on my plate please~~just let me deal with the cancer and some of the other demands of life. Ease back into your routine as you feel. No pressure, just go with the flow...0 -

I am in nursing school. I finished my first semester with having 2 biopsies and 1 lumpectomy. This summer I have had a tram flap and will be on chemo. I am trying to study some over the summer before school picks up again in the fall. I have stage 2. Good Luck!
Hi Taleena
I think you made the right choice for now, just remember "this to shall pass"
I like being in controll of everything too, but I had to make the same dicision as you. I was only taking one class this summer, if fact it's my last class. But for me I think it's best just to lighten the load on my plate for a while, I'm already 45 and one more semester won't make a difference in the long run. When this whole thing is over, you'll find you self right where you need to be. When we get through this the world will be ours again !!! and so will the future0 -
Admiration
I so admire all of you who are taking courses while you're dealing with treatments, jobs, and life in general. I went to college right after high school and then again for a masters five years after my bachelors. But, both times, I either wasn't working or had a part-time job. I'm exhausted just thinking about taking classes while you're working, raising a family and having treatments! My hat goes off to all of you!
The important thing is that you don't give up your goals. They may take a little longer than expected, but sometimes you just need to take things a little easier.

Anyone who can take care of a family ... AND go to school .... AND work ... is truly amazing. I didn't start college until I was over 40 and divorced. Did not work and my son was away at college ... so it was just me and my books. I don't think I could have handled anything else in my life at that point. All of my thoughts and energy went to school. If I'd had a family or job in addition to school I don't think I could would have made it. And ... I know for SURE ... if I'd been diagnosed with cancer ... there's no way I could have handled everything. I don't know how you all do it. You are truly amazing.
hugs.
