    Alchohol Abaltion
I have received ongoing treatment at the Mayo Clinic for the last 2 years, ask any questions!

    Thyca alcohol ablation
Do you know how Mayo decides whether or not you qualify for alcohol ablation? My 78 year old overweight high blood pressure mom has suspicious lymph nodes on both sides of her neck now. She had a total thyroidectomy due to papillary cancer in 2006. They did an FNA a year and a half ago and found Thyca cancer in her nodes, but the lymph nodes were so small they said it wasn't necessary for her to have surgery at that point.
Thank you for any information. She is at high risk for surgery because of her weight and her poor circulation. Also the cancerous lymph nodes are right next to her carotid artery and touching her laryngeal nerve.

    Alcohol Ablation at Mayo
Good news that it's been successful for you. I live in Oregon, with an appointment next month at Mayo to see if I would be a candidate for alcohol ablation. I'm wondering if you know or if the doctors at Mayo referred to any other institutions/hospitals/doctors that can do this as well, or if Dr. Hay is the top choice for this procedure? Ideally, someone or someplace closer to home.

    Thanks!

To treat or not to treat
Thyroid cancer advances so slowly, considering your Mom's health and age, the cure may be worse than the disease. I'm betting this is why she's getting the advise that her doctors are giving her.

    alchohol ablation
    Hello.
I was just recommended this procedure at Majo today. They found a 1cm enlarged, circular lymph node close to my langular nerve. The biopsy they did came back in conclusive.

my i ask who is your Endo at Majo? did the ablation work? Did the node dissapear that they ablated? had you recieved RAI? who was your radiation md?

    thank you so much!

I am going down to Rose Medical Center in Denver to have the alcohol ablation done on Wed so I too would appreciate any feedback from someone who has had this procedure done.

    Possible Alcohol Ablation
This is my 4th recurrance of Hurthle cell cancer. Luckily all have been located in the neck region.

I had a needle biopsy and the trace dose of I 131 and WBS this week. Results: HCC tumor is located in my chest cavity beneath my breast bone/collar bone. My radiation oncologist doesn't feel that further radiation would be effective. It did not take up the iodine so RAI is not an option. Due to the location, surgery would be difficult. Next step is to see a doctor at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville and perhaps have alcohol ablation treatments. I am also looking at getting input from MD Anderson in Houston.

This cancer just does not want to go away, but I am keeping a positive outlook and an aggresive approach for treatment.

I'll post more after I see the Dr. at Mayo.

Sounds like you are telling my Husbands story

I know this is a 5 year old post, but we are just now dealing with trying to find out if this is done in Jacksonville and what Dr. to contact to make an appointment to see if he is a candidate.

I am very interested in knowing your contacts and your outcome.

    Happy Holidays.

    Alcohol Ablation treatment

Hey Lori D, I know this post is over 5 years old, but I was wondering how your treatments went? I live in upstate NY and I'm currently looking for a Doctor who will perform Alcohol Ablation on my Thyroid Nodule. I was hoping you could provide some insight on your experience.
