One year later still in pain...

It has been almost a year since I had a right hemi-colectomy and I still have lots of lower abdominal pain. Bentyl helps sometimes. I am on stool softeners twice a day. Anyone else had this problem. I go for my one year colonoscopy next week. Please pray for a negative report. Getting a little discouraged as I usually bounce back so fast from health woes.

I had my resection last November and still have pain. So far nothing significant has shown up on any of the many tests I've had, but the pain still persists.

P.S. My tumor was in the sigmoid colon

Babs, Thanks for the encouragement. I'm not a very patient patient! They had no idea about the pain and sent me to the pain clinic which accomplished nothing. I hope I find out more when I go back to Mayo next week.

I guess we just have to play a waiting game. Thanks Tootsie.

Not to discourage you but I had a laprascopic right hemi-colectomy and was pain free by one year. I also did not require stool softeners (actually just the opposite). Sounds like you should discuss with your doctor.

Thanks, I see him next week. So glad you're doing well.
